This is a translation of the Gathas, the Sacred Readings of Sufism.
They contain a condensed expression of the wisdom of the mystic
Inayak Khan, and guidance of the seven most important subjects in
Sufism.
All known talks compiled from original sources.
Teachings on sound presenting a vision of the harmony which
underlies and infuses every aspect of life. Science of breath, law
of rhythm, the creative process, healing power and psychological
influence of music.
Recorded talks and sayings by Inayat Khan in their unedited and
most authentic version.
This volume contains a set of addresses on varying subjects by the
founder of the Sufi Movement, given at different times during his
stay in the West and covering a wide field of his teaching. The
second part of the book consists of Inayat Khan's Confessions or
reminiscences which he dictated around 1918, while in the third
part the reader will find four short plays, written principally to
be performed by his pupils in the course of their training.
The Nature Meditations were dictated by Hazrat Inayat Khan to his
secretary, Sheikh Sidar van Tuyll, at his first summer school in
the wheat field of Wissous, France, in 1921. This bookpresents the
phrases, which were given out so they could be repeated slowly on
the breath as a form of spiritual practise.
THE GAYAN OF HAZRAT INAYAT KHAN is one of the three most important
works of inspiration for Inayati Sufis; the others being the Vadan
and Nirtan. This edition of the Gayan: The Song of Divinity has
been edited and adapted from the original for clarity in modern
English, numbered and reformatted for ease of use, and made gender
inclusive for modern readers.
The Sufi Message of Hazrat Inayat Khan is a Sufi text, a sub-sector
of Islamic teaching. It is one of a series of short essays on
spirituality from Sufi teacher Hazrat Inayat Khan, who journeyed
from India to spread his message of love and spiritual liberty to
the West. The essay describes the Sufi ideas of God, nature, truth,
and love, among others, as well as a beginners guide to Sufism.
This work is ideal for anyone interested in world religions,
learning about Sufi beliefs, or studying the spread of Sufism in
the 20th century. HAZRAT INAYAT KHAN (1882-1927) was a Sufi teacher
and writer who founded the "Sufi Order in the West" in London in
1914. Born into a Muslim-Indian noble family, he was initiated into
several Sufi orders before leaving India in 1910 as a traveling
musician at the encouragement of his sheik. Once arriving in the
West, Khan turned from music to spreading Sufi thought and practice
throughout three continents. He returned to India in 1926 to choose
a site for his burial. Today, he is remembered for his call to man
to awake to "Truth of Divine Guidance and Love," which is resonant
in his many works on Universal Sufism.
This new volume of the Complete Works series gives all found
lectures by Inayat Khan over the period January to May 1925.
Fourteen of the talks (one in German) are published here for the
first time including one question and answer session with
invaluable advice on guiding mureeds. The other twenty talks are
seen here for the first time unedited. The talks were given during
Inayat Khan's tours of Switzerland, Italy, Germany, England and the
Netherlands, as well as talks given in Paris. Most readers of
Inayat Khan's work will be familiar with the three plays published
by the International Headquarters of the Sufi Movement in 1939:
"The Bogey Man", "the Living Dead" and "Una". This volume now
brings together two previously unpublished works: "Omar Khayyam"
and "Tansen"; a treatment for a play which he never completed,
"Rama"; and "Ameen -- the Faithful Trustee" which has long been out
of print. We trust that this volume will provide a rich source of
material for all those interested in Inayat Khan's teachings.
A clear and eloquent presentation of the essential spirit which
inspires world religions.
