New Mexico rightly earns its nickname "Land of Enchantment" with
natural treasures such as the White Sands National Monument,
Carlsbad Caverns, and the Gila National Forest. But more than a
beautiful landscape, New Mexico is steeped in the mystique,
history, and tradition of multiple cultures, including the ancient
Aztec and early Spanish explorers. From pueblo villages and stately
missions to the nuclear energy research at Los Alamos, E is for
Enchantment showcases the past, present, and future of New
Mexico.

In 1926, 12-year-old Fu Lee lives with his grandparents in a small
village in China. He lives with his grandparents because his
parents are dead. It is a difficult life but made easier by the
love Lee shares with his grandparents. But now Lee must leave all
that he knows. Before his parents died, they spent all of their
money buying a "paper son slot" for Lee to go to America. Being a
"paper son" means pretending to be the son of a family already in
America. If he goes, he will have the chance for a better life. But
first he must pass the test at Angel Island Immigration Station in
San Francisco. Only then will he be allowed to live with his new
family. If Lee makes even a single mistake, he could be sent back
to China. Lee knows his grandparents want a better life for him. He
can't let them down.

Say goodbye to calorie counting with this revolutionary weight-loss
method. Macronutrients or 'macros' are the three main nutrient
groups your body can't live without: carbohydrates, fats and
protein. So many diets focus on calorie counting, but not all
calories are created equal: your body doesn't process 20 calories
of kale and 20 calories of chocolate in the same way because of
their different macro breakdowns. Macro counting is all about
balance. By eating the right ratio of carbohydrates, fats and
protein, you can lose weight and build muscle in a healthy,
sustainable way without avoiding the foods you love. This flexible
approach to dieting encourages you to make smart food choices that
guarantee results. The Macro Method will tell you everything you
need to know about counting macros, including the latest research
about how the diet works and its nutritional benefits. The 21-day
plan will help you ditch the calorie counting for good, with more
than 40 simple recipes to tempt you.
The field of rheumatology has undergone numerous exciting advances
in recent years, especially the development of biological drugs
with novel targets, made possible by rapid advances in the basic
science of musculoskeletal diseases together with improved imaging
techniques. This thoroughly revised fourth edition of the Oxford
Textbook of Rheumatology reflects the changing face of the
specialty and the many recent advances in the science, treatment,
and understanding of rheumatic diseases. The focus of this
comprehensive reference work is the presentation and management of
rheumatic conditions at all ages. Where relevant, treatment
approaches are evidence-based and cross-referenced to national and
international guidelines. Each clinical chapter provides up-to-date
treatment advice illustrated with clinical vignettes as
appropriate, and the authors consistently emphasize the overlap of
rheumatology with other disciplines. With full colour illustrations
throughout and a complementary online version, the Oxford Textbook
of Rheumatology, Fourth Edition is an essential reference for all
trainees and specialists in the field.
Helen Foster's NETWORKED PROCESS: DISSOLVING BOUNDARIES OF PROCESS
AND POST-PROCESS is a rigorous and extensive exploration of one of
the dominant metaphors of rhetoric and composition, and, more
broadly, of the formation and the future of an academic discipline.
Foster offers an important new approach to research in the field,
one that explores and moves beyond the tension between "writing
process" and "post-process" positions. Her notion of networked
process promotes a culture of inquiry that grapples with the
complexity of writers, writing research, pedagogy, and curricular
change. Central to networked process is a theory of networked
subjectivity, an idea that complicates and reformulates commonplace
assumptions about student, teacher, and disciplinary identities.
Networked subjectivity is grounded in the material reality of
writing work and a fundamental acknowledgment of multiple
literacies and multiple ways of knowing and being in the world. In
NETWORKED PROCESS, Foster offers a compelling and timely
investigation of the future of the discipline, arguing convincingly
for the promotion of the undergraduate writing major and for the
coalescence of disciplinary identity around the increasingly
complex, postmodern notion of networked process, encapsulated by
the re-visioning of rhetoric and composition as rhetoric and
writing studies. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: HELEN FOSTER holds a PhD in
Rhetoric and Composition from Purdue University and is currently
associate professor of English at the University of Texas El Paso,
where she serves as director of the Rhetoric and Writing Studies
Program. She has presented papers at numerous conferences and is
published in various journals. Her research areas include the
history and theory of composition studies; rhetorical and cultural
studies theory, particularly regarding issues of power, knowledge,
marginalization, and legitimacy; and the emerging area of
undergraduate rhetoric and writing studies.
