Helmuth Gunther, die aantreklike baas van Gunther en Vennote, styg met sy Cessna net buite Reniersburg in die Karoo op. Hy is opgewonde om 'n grondtransaksie in die Weskus te gaan beklink. 'n Verskriklike windstorm laat sy vliegtuig egter neerstort in 'n bloekombos. Die harde kopstamp wat Gunther opdoen, vlek die donker gange van sy jarelange geheueverlies oop. Langs Gunther se hospitaalbed loop sy haar egter vas in allerhande onthoubeelde wat by Helmuth begin opkom en sy begin besef...die man op wie sy verlief is, is dalk iemand anders. In hierdie tyd is inspekteur Leander Fourie, die nuwe bevelvoerder van Kransbaai se polisiestasie, juis besig om al die onafgehandelde dossiere van sy voorganger, deur te werk. Dis egter 'n foto sonder die wondmerke aan die gesig en onder 'n ander naam. Hoe onvoorspelbaar, hoe diep en hoe lank kan 'n stormsee sy geheime bewaar?
