On those occasions when parsing "strategies" have been incorporated into accounts of language development, they have often been discussed as vague preferences, not open to rigorous analysis. In principle, however, theories of language comprehension can and should be subjected to the same criteria of explicitness and explanatoriness as other theories, e. g., theories of grammar. Thus their peripheral role in accounts of language development may reflect accidental factors, rather than any inherent fuzziness or irrelevance to the language acquisition problem. It seems probable that an explicit model of the way(s) processing routines are applied in acquisition would help solve some central problems of grammar acquisition, since these routines regulate the application of grammatical knowledge to novel inputs."

Jesus was 'n mens soos ons elkeen. Dit is die mening van Hennie J. de Villiers in sy nuutste baanbrekende boek oor die betekenis van lewe. De Villiers, 'n sielkundige, het in GLO - om te kry wat jy nodig het, navorsing gedoen oor Jesus se aardse lewe, sonder om deur die geykte teologiese modelle beinvloed te word. Hierdeur wil De Villiers vir die hedendaagse mens in 'n postmoderne tydvak nuwe sielkundige waarneming bied oor Jesus se benadering tot ? sinvolle lewe. Verder het De Villiers bevind dat Jesus soos alle mense gebore is en gesterf het. Tog is Jesus se lewe gekenmerk deurdat hy in kontak met die Godheid geleef het. Sodoende het Jesus oor die krag van "glo" beskik. Deur te glo, het hy siekes gesond gemaak, 'n honger skare kos gegee en mense die sin van lewe laat ervaar. Hierdie dinge het Jesus egter nie gedoen in 'n toestand van goddelikheid nie - dit was die Godheid, wat dit gedoen het op grond van Jesus se krag van glo. Die doel van Jesus se aardse lewe was om te toon dat ook ons, in kontak met die Godheid, oor hierdie krag van glo beskik. Deur te glo die Godheid dit sal bewerk, kan ons dinge kry wat ons nodig het om die betekenis van ons lewe te vervul. Ons as mense is sielkundig so saamgestel dat ons ons betekenis wil vervul. Viktor Frankl, die Oostenrykse sielkundige, se bevinding was dat mense se sterkste wil nie is om hulle seksbehoeftes te vervul (Sigmund Freud), of hulle mag te demonstreer (Adolf Adler) nie. Mense is daarop ingestel om die betekenis van hulle lewe te verwerklik. Dit is hoekom mense nie natuurlikerwys in 'n lewe na die dood belangstel nie. Daarom is dit duidelik dat die mens se lewe juis op hierdie planeet 'n doel dien, met vir elkeen ? unieke taak. De Villiers is van mening dat die Christendom tot dusver te veel daarop ingestel was om slegs op Jesus as die verlosser van sonde te fokus. Gevolglik is die sinvolle betekenis van sy aardse lewe verwaarloos. In hierdie verband is Hennie J de Villiers daarvan oortuig dat alle mense - ongeag hulle spirituele oortuigings - uit Jesus se aardse lewe riglyne kan vind. So kan hulle leer hoe hulle met die krag van glo dinge kan bekom wat hulle nodig het, en sodoende die sin in hulle lewe vervul. Ontken ons die sielkundige bevinding dat Jesus 'n mens soos ons was, verwerp ons daarmee ook die Christelike motief dat Jesus as mens vir die sonde van alle mense gestraf moes word.
