The doctrine of Direct Effect is an issue of importance to all those concerned with, or affected by the implementation of European Union directives. The doctrine of Direct Effect bestows responsibility for the implementation of directives on individual regulators, even if the member state itself has not made full arrangements for implementation. This text considers the doctrine with particular regard to the regulation of the discharge of dangerous substances to the aquatic environment in England and Wales. It contains an analysis of the evolution, applications and implications of Direct Effect.;A range of cases are studied, allowing the reader to realize the scope of this important doctrine. This book explores an area of European Law that should be understood by all those involved in the regulation of the discharge of dangerous substances.
The Volume on Advances in Steiner Trees is divided into two
sections. The first section of the book includes papers on the
general geometric Steiner tree problem in the plane and higher
dimensions. The second section of the book includes papers on the
Steiner problem on graphs. The general geometric Steiner tree
problem assumes that you have a given set of points in some
d-dimensional space and you wish to connect the given points with
the shortest network possible. The given set ofpoints are 3 Figure
1: Euclidean Steiner Problem in E usually referred to as terminals
and the set ofpoints that may be added to reduce the overall length
of the network are referred to as Steiner points. What makes the
problem difficult is that we do not know a priori the location and
cardinality ofthe number ofSteiner points. Thus)the problem on the
Euclidean metric is not known to be in NP and has not been shown to
be NP-Complete. It is thus a very difficult NP-Hard problem.
Introduction to Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics presents
comprehensive coverage of thermodynamics from a chemical
engineering viewpoint. The text provides a thorough exposition of
the principles of thermodynamics and details their application to
chemical processes. The chapters are written in a clear, logically
organized manner, and contain an abundance of realistic problems,
examples, and illustrations to help students understand complex
concepts. This text is structured to alternate between the
development of thermodynamic principles and the correlation and use
of thermodynamic properties as well as between theory and
applications. To enhance student reading, the ninth edition now
includes SmartBook (R) 2.0. SmartBook 2.0-Our adaptive reading
experience has been made more personal, accessible, productive, and
mobile.

"When Jesus comes to rapture the Church, you don't want to be left
behind, do you " The idea of believers disappearing from the earth
in "the twinkle of an eye" in order to escape the "Great
Tribulation" is one that has captivated the imaginations of many
Christians over the past 150 years now. Multimillion dollar book,
TV, video game and movie franchises have been constructed around
this very concept. But is it what the Bible actually teaches? In
this "Dojo Discussions" edition, JM Smith looks at various issues
surrounding popular End Times teachings which many Christians take
for granted to be solid, orthodox, Biblical teaching...with
surprising results. Could it be that when it comes to the return of
Jesus, you actually WANT to be 'left behind'
Erik is alone in the world, living in the darkness beneath the
opera house, hiding his shameful existence from human eyes. He
longs to reach out to an angel, but fears she would see him as
nothing more than a monster. Yet when a surprise visitor lands on
the shores of his underground lake, he is forced to rethink
everything he has ever believed to be true. In the end, will either
of their lives ever be the same again-and would they want them to
be? The Secret Door is the first endeavor of novelist J.M. Smith.
It leads the reader through a mysterious, often funny, journey
through space and time, and illustrates the transformative power of
love
