Mechanics of Anisotropic Materials (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 2015): Jacek J. Skrzypek, Artur W.... Mechanics of Anisotropic Materials (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 2015)
Jacek J. Skrzypek, Artur W. Ganczarski
R3,942 Discovery Miles 39 420 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The book is focused on constitutive description of mechanical behaviour of engineering materials: both conventional (polycrystalline homogeneous isotropic or anisotropic metallic materials) and non-conventional (heterogeneous multicomponent anisotropic composite materials). Effective material properties at the macro-level depend on both the material microstructure (originally isotropic or anisotropic) as well as dissipative phenomena occurred on fabrication and consecutive loading phase (hardening) resulting in irreversible microstructure changes (acquired anisotropy). The material symmetry is a background and anisotropy is a core around which the book is formed. In this way a revision of classical rules of enhanced constitutive description of materials is required.

arranged. Among them the following types are met: nanotubes, nanop- ticles, nanopowders, nano?bers, nanowires, nanocomposites, etc. * At the microscale - Microcomposites, such as metal matrix composites (MMCs), ceramic matrix composites (CMCs), alloys or superalloys, s- tered powders, ceramic materials, magnetorheological ?uids (MRFs), etc. * At the macroscale - Macrocomposites, such as functionally graded ma- rials (FGMs), thin layers or ?lms, thermal or oxidation or wear resistant coatings, multilayered structures, long ?ber composites, etc. At each level of analysis a response of the material to any physical excitation may be observed, measured and analyzed. In the sense of innovation of a material, the changes or new ideas can be introduced on the same scale of control (say, atomic or nano) in order to achieve fundamentally new behavior on the other scale of observation (say, micro or macro). For instance, by replacing some similar atoms in the metal crystal str- ture (e. g. Ti-Ti or Al-Al), by unlike atoms in the crystal (e. g. Ti-Al), wi- out the lattice symmetry of the original material changing, new improved properties and characteristics may be observed in intermetallics at the - cro or macroscale (higher speci?c strength, better creep resistance at elevated temperatures, better corrosion resistance, to mention only some properties observed at the macroscale). Similarly, changing material characteristics at the nanoscale, enables creation of completely new material functionality at micro or macroscales (e. g.

Anisotropic Behaviour of Damaged Materials (Paperback, 2003): Jacek J. Skrzypek, Artur W. Ganczarski Anisotropic Behaviour of Damaged Materials (Paperback, 2003)
Jacek J. Skrzypek, Artur W. Ganczarski
R4,512 Discovery Miles 45 120 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The scope of this book is based on the keynote lectures delivered during the Inter national Symposium on Anisotropic Behaviour of Damaged Materials ABDM, held in Krakow-Przegorzaiy, Poland, September 9-11, 2002. The Symposium was organized by the Solid Mechanics Division of the Institute of Mechanics and Machine Design - Cracow University of Technology, under aus pices of the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Cracow University of Technology, Prof. S. Michalowski. The Co-organizers of the ABDM Symposium were: * Martin-Luther-Universitat Halle-Wittenberg, * Centre of Excellence for Advanced Materials and Structures AMAS at the In stitute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sci ences, Warsaw, * Committee of Mechanics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw. Ten chapters of this book in their present form essentially exceed lectures de livered at the Symposium. They should rather be read as not only author's recent achievements in the field, but also the state of art and synthesis done by the lead ers in the mechanics community. The mixed formula of the Symposium, namely: the invited lectures and presentations of the original papers by the participants was used. 23 original papers, published in the Symposium Proceedings on CD, exhaust the full scope of the ABDM Symposium. The present book provides a survey of various damage models focusing on the damage response in anisotropic materials as well as damage-induced anisotropy.

Modeling of Material Damage and Failure of Structures - Theory and Applications (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original... Modeling of Material Damage and Failure of Structures - Theory and Applications (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 1999)
Jacek J. Skrzypek; Foreword by H Altenbach; Artur Ganczarski
R4,501 Discovery Miles 45 010 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The area of material damage models has undergone a rapid development in the past few years. This is an extensive and comprehensive survey of one- and three-dimensional damage models for elastic and inelastic solids. The state-of-the-art is reported by about 200 references. The book not only provides a rich current source of knowledge, but also describes examples of practical applications, numerical procedures, and computer codes. The style of presentation is systematic, clear, and concise and is supported by illustrative diagrams.

Advanced Materials and Structures for Extreme Operating Conditions (Paperback, Softcover reprint of hardcover 1st ed. 2008):... Advanced Materials and Structures for Extreme Operating Conditions (Paperback, Softcover reprint of hardcover 1st ed. 2008)
Jacek J. Skrzypek, Artur W. Ganczarski, Franco Rustichelli, Halina Egner
R4,475 Discovery Miles 44 750 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

In the pages of this present monograph readers will find virtually everything they need to know about the latest advanced materials. The authors have covered almost every angle, including composites, functionally graded materials, and materials for high temperature service. They also examine advanced approaches to local and non-local analysis of localized damage, and provide a new description of crack deactivation. This highly informative volume also tackles the material properties for high temperature applications.

Jacek J. Skrzypek, Artur W. Ganczarski
R4,720 Discovery Miles 47 200 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The book contains invited lectures from the International Symposium on the Anisotropic Behaviour of Damaged Materials, held in Krakow, Poland, September 9-11, 2002. Eminent researchers and world experts in the field of damage mechanics report recent achievements and state-of-the-art results in the field. The book deals with the anisotropic damage mechanics involving micromechanical aspects and thermo-mechanical coupling. The contents are both of academic interest and relevant for practical applications, especially those concerning more advanced anisotropic models of materials and the transition from the microscopic to the macroscopic level.

Creep and Damage in Materials and Structures (Paperback, 1999 ed.): Holm Altenbach, Jacek J. Skrzypek Creep and Damage in Materials and Structures (Paperback, 1999 ed.)
Holm Altenbach, Jacek J. Skrzypek
R2,993 Discovery Miles 29 930 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This textbook gives a concise survey of constitutive and structural modeling for high temperature creep, damage, low a " cycle fatigue and other inelastic conditions. The book shows the creep and continuum damage mechanics as rapidly developing discipline which interlinks the material science foundations, the constitutive modeling and computer simulation application to analysis and design of simple engineering components. It is addressed to young researchers and scientists working in the field of mechanics of inelastic, time-dependent materials and structures, as well as to PhD students in computational mechanics, material sciences, mechanical and civil engineering.
