This country is full of obesity. Almost half of our citizens are
overweight, and their numbers, in both population and mass, are
only increasing. I spend much of my days ruminating about one in
particular: Xander, a patient I have watched since birth. He was a
fat baby, he was a fat toddler, a fat grade-schooler, a fat teen,
and adult. His parents couldn't help. Taco Bell didn't help. I
tried to help as his pediatrician, but this was an appetite that
wasn't stopping for anything. This is a glimpse into his morbid
life.
"The unforgettable true story of a young man facing a ten-year
prison sentence who was offered an impossible mission: coax a
confession out of a fellow inmate, a serial killer, and be free to
walk
"Jimmy Keene grew up outside of Chicago and was destined for
greatness on the football field. By the time he reached his
twenties, he was rubbing shoulders with famous actors, porn stars,
and the children of powerful politicians. But a few costly mistakes
left him with a ten-year prison term and no chance of parole. Less
than a year into his sentence, Keene was approached by the
prosecutor who put him behind bars. He had convicted another man,
Larry Hall, for murder and was fighting his appeal. He offered
Keene a deal: Enter one of the most dangerous prisons in the U.S.,
befriend Hall, and get him to confess to the murder of two young
women and tell him where he buried the one whose body was still
missing. If he succeeded, Keene would get an unconditional release.
If he failed, he’d have no choice but to ride out his term. If he
was found out, he could also be killed. A story that gained
national notoriety, this is Keene’s powerful tale of peril,
violence, and redemption

In Warrior Spirit, Running to the Sound of Gunfire a young Airborne
Ranger is shot off of his motorcycle while attempting to rescue
1000 American medical students on the Caribbean island of Grenada.
15 years later, a four man Special Forces team is attacked by an
angry Serbian mob while on peacekeeping missions in the former
Yugoslavia. Gunfire erupts, and the Airborne Ranger kills his
Serbian brother. His son is born with a rare blood disorder and
dies at age nine of an aneurysm while on a family hike in the Rocky
Mountains.
The above events, plus many more, inspired the author to write this
398 page novel. Warrior Spirit is based on his true-life story:
that of a modern day Special Operations Warrior. The story is not
all blood and guts and appeals to both male and female readers. It
takes you through slow, rural ranch life and the marriage of high
school sweethearts to exotic adventures with the United States
Special Operations Command. Every emotion from love to fear to
humor keeps the pages turning.
