'Letters from Iwo Jima' (2006) is based on the book 'Picture Letters from Commander in Chief' by Tadamichi Kuribayashi. The island of Iwo Jima stands between the American military force and the home islands of Japan. Therefore the Imperial Japanese Army is desperate to prevent it from falling into American hands and providing a launching point for an invasion of Japan. General Tadamichi Kuribayashi (Ken Watanabe) is given command of the forces on the island and sets out to prepare for the imminent attack. General Kuribayashi, however, does not favour the rigid traditional approach recommended by his subordinates, and resentment and resistance fester among his staff.

Together, they must put their new-found abilities to the test and work as a team to save the Earth from the evil Dr. Doom (Toby Kebbell).

James McAvoy stars as a corrupt, sociopathic Edinburgh cop in director Jon S. Baird's fast-paced black comedy, adapted from the novel by Irvine Welsh. Steven Spielberg brings Hergé's Tintin to the big screen with this animated adventure. With plot lines drawn from three Tintin stories - 'The Crab With the Golden Claws', 'The Secret of the Unicorn' and 'Red Rackham's Treasure' - the film follows intrepid young reporter Tintin (voiced by Jamie Bell) as he joins forces with Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis) to find the treasure of his ancestor, Sir Francis Haddoque. A clue hidden inside a model ship bought on a market stall seems to point the way to the treasure. With the assistance of accident-prone Detectives Thompson and Thomson (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost), Tintin and Haddock set out to solve the mystery. Needless to say, though, they are not the only ones after the loot.
