'The time had arrived to put my Plan into action. I was in grave
danger and I had no choice. I only had one weapon: a rubber band.
It had taken me a long time to get it hooked around the edge of my
food dish. Now I carefully pulled it back as far as I could, aiming
directly at those big doggy nostrils.' You can learn a lot about
life by observing another species. That's what Humphrey was told
when he was bought as a classroom pet for Room 26. And it's
definitely true! In addition to his classroom escapades, each
weekend he gets to sleep over with a different student like
Stop-Giggling-Gail and Repeat-That-Please-Richie. Humphrey learns
to read, write, shoot rubber bands and much more. With adventures
galore, Humphrey's life would be absolutely perfect if only the
teacher, Mrs Brisbane, wasn't out to get him . . .

Dear Friends, When Og the Frog came to live in Room 26, I felt a
little jealous. Still, I tried to be welcoming but I soon
discovered that it's HARD-HARD-HARD to make friends with a lumpy,
bumpy frog! Then I found out that my fellow students were having
problems with their friends, too. A.J. and Garth had to deal with a
bully named Mean Martin Bean. Heidi and Gail had a terrible
argument, and Miranda-Golden had a new stepsister who wasn't nice
at all. Then there was the Poetry Festival, the magic show and the
snowstorm! How could one small hamster solve all those problems?
Luckily, I wrote the whole story in my notebook so you could share
my adventures. Your friend to the end, Humphrey
Ahead of a big author visit, Humphrey and his friends try writing
their own stories, but Humphrey worries that hamsters don't have
any imagination; he's finding creative writing just too hard. While
he helps out his friends, and the new school guinea pig, Gigi,
Humphrey encounters real, live parrots, dragons and even ghosts . .
. and finally manages to let his imagination soar.

Humphrey must step in to lend a helping paw. Using his charm,
resourcefulness and wisdom, he's certain to have a plan. This third
instalment follows the brilliantly successful The World According
to Humphrey and Friendship According to Humphrey. 'Already a star
in America. . . children fall for him, and you can't beat him for
old-fashioned, feelgood life lessons.' Sunday Times
To celebrate his tenth birthday the whole Humphrey series has a

To celebrate his tenth birthday the whole Humphrey series has a

another planet move into Room 26! All this and LOTS-LOTS-LOTS more
happens in Humphrey's new book of adventures, Surprises According

This is a delightfully colourful introduction to classical music,
aimed to fire the imagination of young children aged 5-7 years.
Readers are asked to think about the different places in which we
might hear music, whether it is in a concert hall, or just on
television. They are then introduced to a selection of famous
composers including Mozart and Beethoven, and learn about each of
the musical instrument families, from woodwind to percussion.
Throughout the book children are referred to the accompanying CD so
that they can hear examples as they read. Music on the CD includes
Mozart's "Magic Flute", Williams' "Harry Potter and the
Philosopher's Stone", Saint-Saens' "Carnival of the Animals",
Holst's "Planets", Stravinsky's "Petrushka" and Prokofiev's "Peter
and the Wolf".
Learn about looking after cats with this heart-warming story. Would
you really love a cat but don't know the first thing about how it
will affect you and your family? This book gives young children
aged 6+ all information they and their families need to see if they
could take on this big responsibilty. The information is given
through the story of Holly who is is desperate to get a cat, but
the rest of his family don't think it's a good idea. So Holly
decides to start a scrapbook to discover what a cat needs. She
looks around his home and wonders where the cat will live. She
collects photos of different cat breeds and adds labels with their
temperaments, how to care for them etc. Holly's family see her
enthusiasm and begin to get on board with the idea. Together they
visit a kitten from a local family but they also visit a rescue
centre and decide to get an adult cat from there. Using Jason
Chapman's lively illustrations and Alex's photographic scrapbook,
this 'two books in one' describes the behaviour and needs of cats
and how it affects a family's life day-to-day in a charming and fun
way. The book is endorsed and checked by Battersea Dogs & Cats
Home.
