"History The Raven, Early Life of Sam Houston" was created due to my interest in and kinship with Sam Houston, my 2nd cousin 5 times removed. My lineage extends to Sam Houston through the Paxton family. Jasper Lafayette Snellins', my dad, my side of the family tree extends upward to Thomas and Elizabeth (McLung) Paxton. Thomas (my 5th Great Grandfather) and Sam Houston's Grandfather (John Paxton) were brothers. The series was developed to assist a friend in publishing a historical periodical and she urged me to compile it into this book about the life of the only man who ever was a U.S. Congressman, Snator and Governor of 2 States, and President of a Republic.
