The love story between Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio is a
timeless tale. Both of these legends had extraordinary careers in
their individual fields, as well as remarkable existences. This
book chronicles each of their lives, from the days before they met,
until that magical night in 1952 when their paths finally crossed.
Their lives would never be the same after that. Though their
marriage lasted for nine months, their love endured beyond those
years and her death in 1962 -- Joe's heart yearned for no one else,
even at his deathbed thirty-seven years after her untimely passing.
This account shares of their love and focuses on their marriage in
1954, and their trip to Japan and her trip to Korea, during the
nearly one month time span that the couple was in the Far East
together. The author's collections of rare and unpublished
photographs (some never-before-seen), especially from their time in
Japan and Marilyn's in Korea (released in tandem with the sixtieth
anniversary of their trip to the Far East), as well as memorabilia
from both of the stars from the author's collection, are treasures
that accompany this story. This book weaves in elements about
baseball, entertainment, the military, the tragedies of stardom,
and above all, the love Marilyn and Joe shared. The story told here
unveils other characters in the casts of both of their lives,
including interviews with family members of Marilyn Monroe who run
the "Marilyn Monroe Family" website, headed by Marilyn's second
cousin, Jason Edward Kennedy. This book begins to also debunk the
myths and propaganda about the life and death of Marilyn Monroe.
Additionally, controversy within Joe's final days is also explored.
"Marilyn Monroe & Joe DiMaggio - Love In Japan, Korea &
Beyond,"" is the first book in the series endorsed by
MarilynMonroeFamily.com, the website run by the relatives of
William Marion Hogan, Marilyn Monroe's great-uncle.
This book is about an actual experience of God's four-step
preparation of His end-time church. It is Biblically patterned
after four beasts: - The year of the ox is about plowing,
endurance, and strength in faith. -The year of the eagle is about
higher communion with God, greater visions, and overcoming storms.
-The year of the lion is about exercising Kingdom authority to rule
and reign as the sons and daughters of God on earth; -The year of
man is about combining all of the above with wisdom to co-labor
with God to establish His glorious end-time church.
After the funeral for her parents, Jim and Margaret Tilford,
twenty-two-year-old Maggie Tilford is left alone in their Indiana
farmhouse to grieve. An only child, Maggie is now in charge of
preparing the estate for sale. In the dusty attic, a place where
she was never allowed as a child, she discovers a trunk that holds
the secrets to her past--a past of which she was unaware. Maggie, a
school teacher, is shocked to learn that she was adopted. Once she
knows this, she is determined to learn the complete truth. Old
photos lead her to Boston and eventually, with the help of Boston
attorney Dan Kippington, to Nantucket, a tiny island thirty miles
off the coast of Cape Cod. Their investigation leads them into
encounters with a haunted inn, a sinister innkeeper, a deserted
Victorian house, a German spy, and an ailing old woman who holds
the key to Maggie's past. Maggie's search begins in Boston and ends
on Nantucket Island, a place where magical things happen and people
fall in love--not only with each other, but with the island as
well.
These 32 essays (over 500 print pages) accent United Methodism in
the United States and the traditions contributory to it. They
provide new perspectives and fresh readings on important Methodist
topics, including how Methodism appealed to the common folk and how
it configured itself as a folk movement. Similar findings derive
from the number of essays that explore gender and family. Here also
are new readings on spirituality, worship, the diaconate,
stewardship, organization, ecumenism, reform, and ordination
(male/female; black/white). Less conventional subjects include the
relation of Methodism to the American party system and Methodist
accumulation of wealth and the wealthy.
Supplementary Materials to Accompany Puntos de Partida
From the first edition to the present edition, one of the most
important features of the Supplementary Materials is the built-in
recycling of linguistic functions. In this edition besides the
"Guided Writing" re-entry activities, and the "Communicative Goals"
speaking practices, we have added a section called "Recycling of
Major Linguistic Functions" which was previously in the Teacher's
Guide and as is now in the student Supplement. We have also added
suggestions about how to incorporate student-initiated questions
into picture-based activities. All activities have been updated to
reflect the changes to the new edition of Puntos and current
Hispanic popular culture.
What will you find in the new Supplementary Materials and the
accompanying Teacher's Guide?
- Communicative Goals and Grammatical Structures Checklists
- Pronunciation
- Listening Comprehension
- Grammar
- Chapter Reviews
- Integrative and Information Gap Activities
- Guided Writing
- Communicative Goals Practices
- Round Robin Grammar Monitor Activities

The Supplementary Materials and Teacher's Guide are meant, first
and foremost, to be a time-saver when doing lesson plans. Here, in
one manual, you will find a wide range of imaginative,
classroom-tested materials and activities, designed by experienced
teachers who have taught extensively with Puntos de partida. It is
our earnest hope that this supplement and teacher's guide will make
teachers' lives easier when planning classes, and that students
find the materials interesting, enjoyable and beneficial.
