Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.
This volume provides comprehensive procedures for analyzing the
extracellular matrix in native, injured, and engineered neural
tissues. Divided into four parts, each focusing on different
aspects of the extracellular matrix and the nervous system,
Extracellular Matrix covers methods to analyze native tissue, in
vitro models for investigating cell-extracellular matrix
interactions in a variety of contexts, protocols to investigate the
role of the extracellular matrix in nervous system injury,
degeneration, and regeneration, as well as therapeutics and
engineered systems. Each chapter is written by leading experts and
presents established protocols in a concise format, encompassing
current technologies as well as methods developed over years of
research. Beginning with an introduction to the method, chapters
continue with a listing of the materials and equipment,
step-by-step protocols, and a Notes section with troubleshooting
tips, supplemental details and alternative approaches, as well as a
list of references for further information. As part of the
practical and convenient Neuromethods series, Extracellular Matrix
serves as an invaluable aid for researchers studying this vital
area of neuroscience.

In the rural immigrant community of Istanbul, poor women spend up
to fifty hours a week producing goods for export, yet deny that
they actually 'work'. Money Makes Us Relatives asks why Turkish
society devalues women's work, concealing its existence while
creating a vast pool of cheap labor for the world market. Drawing
on two years of ethnographic fieldwork among family producers and
pieceworkers, and using fascinating case studies throughout, Jenny
B. White shows how women's paid work is viewed in terms of kinship
relations of reciprocity and obligation - an extension of domestic
work for the family, which is culturally valued but poorly
compensated. Whilst offering the benefits of social identity and
long-term security, women's work also reflects global capitalism's
ability to capture local cultural norms, and to use these to lower
production costs and create exploitative conditions.
This fully revised second edition includes a new introduction and
conclusion, updated references, comparative material on women's
labor elsewhere in the world, and brand new material on Islam,
globalization, gender and Turkish family life. It is an important
contribution to debates about women's participation in late global
capitalism.

Billerbeck, author of The Theory of Happily Ever After The only
thing scarier than living on the edge is stepping off it. Maggie
Montgomery lives a life of adventure. Her job as a cinematographer
takes her from one exotic locale to the next. When Maggie's not
working, she loves to rappel off cliffs or go skydiving. Nothing
frightens her. Nothing, that is, except Ivy, Texas, where a family
emergency pulls her back home to a town full of bad memories,
painful secrets, and people Maggie left far behind . . . for a
reason. Forced to stay longer than she intended, Maggie finds her
family a complete mess, including the niece her sister has
abandoned. Ten-year-old Riley is struggling in school and out of
control at home. The only person who can really handle the
pint-sized troublemaker is Conner, the local vet and Ivy's most
eligible bachelor. But Conner and Maggie keep butting heads-he's
suspicious of her and, well, she doesn't rely on anyone but
herself. As Maggie humorously fumbles her way from one mishap to
another, she realizes she's going to need to ask for help from the
one person who scares her the most. To save one little girl-and
herself-can Maggie let go of her fears and just trust God? "Jenny
B. Jones strikes a perfect balance of quirkiness and
vulnerability." -Allison Pittman, author of Stealing Home "Jones's

talents . . . Some subtle faith messages about trusting God despite
painful pasts round out this fast-paced, lighthearted romantic
escape." -Publishers Weekly review of Save the Date

In the post-Cold War era, economic globalization has resulted in
the buying and selling of human beings. Poverty, social
instability, lawlessness, gender biases, and ethnic hostility have
entrapped millions in the world of modern day slavery, with the
result that human trafficking is one of the fastest growing
criminal industries in the world. Every year, men, women, and
children from across the globe are transported within or across
borders for the purpose of forced labor and sexual exploitation.
Despite the plethora of journalistic articles written on human
trafficking there is a need for more rigorous academic analysis of
the phenomenon. Although groups from many different ideologies have
embraced policies to end human trafficking, there are still many
gaps and unanswered questions, particularly with regard to the
amount of, and nature of the phenomenon. This book provides an
insight into the complexity of human trafficking by addressing both
how the scope of globalization impacts the sex industry and forced
labor, and how vulnerability is a growing cause of human
trafficking, affecting traditional diasporic and migratory
patterns. This book was originally published as a special issue of
the Journal of Intercultural Studies.

Grief brought Finley to Ireland. Love will lead her home.
Finley Sinclair is not your typical eighteen-year-old. She's
witty, tough, and driven. With an upcoming interview at the
Manhattan music conservatory, Finley needs to compose her audition
piece. But her creativity disappeared with the death of her older
brother, Will.
She decides to study abroad in Ireland so she can follow Will's
travel journal. It's the place he felt closest to God, and she's
hopeful being there will help her make peace over losing him. So
she agrees to an exchange program and boards the plane.
Beckett Rush, teen heartthrob and Hollywood bad boy, is flying
to Ireland to finish filming his latest vampire movie. On the
flight, he meets Finley. She's the one girl who seems immune to his
charm. Undeterred, Beckett convinces her to be his assistant in
exchange for his help as a tour guide.
Once in Ireland, Finley starts to break down. The loss of her
brother and the pressure of school, her audition, and whatever it
is that is happening between her and Beckett, leads her to a new
and dangerous vice. When is God going to show up for her in this
emerald paradise?
Then she experiences something that radically changes her
perspective on life. Could it be God convincing her that everything
she's been looking for has been with her all along?
