A hilarious, yet tender and sincere picture book about making
mistakes, owning up to them, and asking forgiveness. Every party
has a pooper. You may not have wanted one. You certainly did not
invite one. But, inevitably, every party will have one. So what
should you do? Maybe you can interest the pooper in a game?
Hopefully the pooper doesn't lay down in defeat in the middle of
your Twister mat... oh, there he goes. Directly on the blue dot you
needed. Perhaps you can entice the pooper with a delicious,
scrumptious cake? Unless the pooper sticks his booger-y fingers
directly into the layer you were most excited to eat... sigh. Oh, I
know what to do! Let's. Party. HARDER. Until... things get taken
too far. Then it might be time to take a step back and do the
hardest thing of all: apologize. In Party Pooper, Jennifer Gray
Olson tackles complex SEL themes with expertise, grace, and
laugh-out-loud humor. It's a thoughtful, yet entertaining
examination that has equal empathy for the party goers and, of
course, the party pooper.
Fuzzy and Coco's owners are organising an Easter Fair at the Rescue
Centre. They bring home a naughty little bunny called Binny in the
hope that she will learn to behave. Then she can find a new owner
at the fair. But Binny is determined to cause havoc in Middleton
Crescent. Her antics lead to Eduardo's capture by the humans - and
then he's taken to be adopted at the fair! Can Fuzzy and Coco
rescue Eduardo and find a new home for Binny?
Sometimes the world is just too much, from a sibling's bedtime
snoring and a friend's smelly lunch to the crowded playground so
loud you can't even think. Follow the journey of one girl as she
sets off to find some space of her own. Gradually, she wants more
and more until there is nothing left except space, where she can
breathe, dream, rest, and think. Soon, the girl decides to tell her
family about why space (and mindfulness) is so important to her,
and they all learn to share some space together. With ingenious use
of images of the galaxy as a metaphor for personal space, A Little
Space for Me is a visually stunning and original story for any
child who needs to find place of their own in our great, big world.
Atticus Grammatticus Cattypuss Claw, the world's greatest police
cat, is back. When the kittens at the local cats' home are wrongly
suspected of a knitting crime spree, Inspector Cheddar is baffled.
Atticus must step in to find the real culprits. In an adventure
that takes him from Littleton-on-Sea to the sands of the Egyptian
desert, Atticus has to use all his tabby talents to keep one paw
ahead of Ginger Biscuit and Jimmy Magpie and his gang. Can Atticus
reach the lost city of cats and save the priceless treasure from
the villains before it's too late?

This little story sparkles with magic and fun. It starts on Hallowe’en
when friends Jessie and Ali find something very unexpected in their
treat bucket – a little kitten. What’s even more surprising, the kitten
is magic and can talk. They take the perfectly named Magicat home and
all sorts of adventures follow – sheds are turned into treehouses,
pancakes are cooked (almost) and the bully next door is put in his
place. It’s all made even more exciting because Magicat isn’t quite as
expert at the magic thing as he’d have you believe and some of the
spells go delightfully wrong. Purrfect for newly confident readers as
well as for those who are reluctant or dyslexic. Let’s hope there are
more adventures to come for Magicat and his friends.
Particularly suitable for struggling, reluctant or dyslexic readers
aged 8+

Underserved Populations in Science Education: Enhancement Through
Learning Community Participation A positive relationship between
college anatomy students' achievement and academic language
proficiency in the context of a learning community was studied. For
many students the barrier to learning science is language. It was
determined that a relationship exists between low academic language
proficiency and lack of success among students, in particular
failure among at-risk minority and language- minority students. The
study involved students of Anatomy classes at a community college
in Central California having a high percentage of culturally and
linguistically diverse students. Students from each semester
participated in the academic language proficiency and science
achievement studies. A number of students enrolled in a Learning
Community (LC) that included instruction in academic language in
the context of the anatomy course content. Other students also
participated in Peer-led Support (PLS) sessions. Several
participated in a textbook use study and in a Cooperative-Learning
(CL) study.
