The first prediction of the Moabite parchment is coming to pass.
The world is in the death grip of a devastating plague.
Civilization is on the brink of chaos. Some are saying it's the
wrath of God, while others are proclaiming the end times.
In the small Midwestern town of Thorntree, Father Jacob Winston
watches helplessly as his friends are transformed into hideous
creatures and die screaming on their seventh day. When presented
with half of the parchment, he is offered a way to alleviate their
suffering. If he accepts the first half of the parchment he will
become instrumental in making the second prediction come true. The
consequences of the second prediction reach far beyond the natural
order and into the realm of angels and demons.
The cardinals are gathering in Rome to elect a new pope. In the
intrigue of the conclave, the journal of the last pope and the
second half of the parchment are discovered. If these documents are
allowed to be presented to the other cardinals, their surprising
contents could determine the outcome of the election, and shape the
future of the church and the world.

characterization of minerals, metals, and materials as well as the
application of characterization results on the processing of these
materials. It is a highly authoritative collection of articles
written by experts from around the world. The articles center on
materials characterization, extraction, processing, corrosion,
welding, solidification, and method development. In addition,
articles focus on clays, ceramics, composites, ferrous metals,
non-ferrous metals, minerals, electronic, magnetic, environmental,
advanced and soft materials. This book will serve the dual purpose
of furnishing a broad introduction of the field to novices while
simultaneously serving to keep subject matter experts up-to-date.

Oliver Otis Howard devoted his life to the service of his country,
both as a distinguished army officer in two wars and as the founder
of two universities. Oliver Otis Howard was a graduate of Bowdoin
College and of West Point. Being reared in a pious New England
(Maine) atmosphere gave him a deep sense of obligation to lead a
Christian life, for the good of others and for the development of
his own best self. He was often disturbed by the conflict presented
him in his dual career in peace and war.General Howardas strong
sense of duty to his country brought about his distinguished career
of command during the Civil Waraat the Battle of Chancellorsville,
itself a disappointing rout, and at Gettysburg, where he recovered
any reputation the earlier defeat might have lost him. Under
General Sherman, in the Atlanta campaign, and as a leader of the
Army of the Tennessee he won special distinction. In total, Howard
fought at the First Bull Run, Fair Oaks (where severe wounds forced
the amputation of his right arm), Second Bull Run, Fredericksburg,
Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. The same strong sense of duty made
him accept the commission of the Freedmenas Bureau and the
promotion of AfricanaAmerican education. Following his service in
the Nez Perce Campaign of 1877 he was superintendent of West Point
and the founder of Lincoln Memorial University. His greatest

Designing a Safer Built Environment places the statutory
obligations on designers into the real world of commercial
projects. It addresses long-standing uncertainties and challenges
faced by designers, highlighted by recent events such as the
Grenfell Tower fire, by providing a clear methodology for design
risk management. Applicable across all sizes of project, the book
shows how designers can effectively manage risks to safety and
health over a structure's life-cycle whilst also raising standards.
Importantly, it is also written for those professionals who manage,
oversee, or have a wider interest in the consequences of design
work. The book also includes an extensive list of references to
further sources of information. Designing a Safer Built Environment
is written to question, challenge, inform and explain and as such
it will be an essential companion for construction industry
designers, and also those with associated responsibilities
including Design Managers, Principal Designers, Clients and
Contractors.
The idea that professionals in health and social care should 'learn
together to work together' in 'interprofessional education' (IPE)
is not new. Nevertheless, interest in this concept has grown
dramatically. By learning together, professions will better
understand each other and value what others bring to the practice
of collaboration. Through working together more effectively, the
quality of care and outcomes for users will be improved, but what
is the evidence to support this? How can effective and sustainable
IPE programmes be designed and run? What theoretical perspectives
are useful? How can programmes be evaluated? This essential guide
provides a thorough introduction to IPE in health and social care.
It examines the research on IPE in detail, providing much-needed
practical advice. This second edition includes updates to research
and policy internationally, examples of successful programmes and
methods of evaluation, and provides readers with an essential set
of IPE 'do's and don'ts'.

Director John Carpenter's first feature, begun when he was a film
student, has become a cult favourite. Seen as a parody of Stanley
Kubrick's '2001: A Space Odyssey', the film tells the story of four
space-weary astronauts - Lt. Doolittle (Brian Narelle), Sgt.
Pinback (Dan O'Bannon), Boiler (Carl Kuniholm) and Talby (Dre
Pahich) - on an extended mission to blow up unstable planets. An
electronic forcefield, however, has altered the programming of
their bomb and the four must somehow find a way to reset it before
it blows them up.

A double-bill of sci-fi horror. In John Carpenter's 'The Thing'
(1982), a research team in the Antarctic, led by R.J. MacReady
(Kurt Russell), discovers a spaceship buried beneath the ice, and
becomes terrorised by the shape-changing monster that is housed
within. In the 2011 prequel, the action is set on a research site
in Antarctica three days before the action of the original story,
the film focusing on the Norwegian camps that were the initial
target of the alien invasion. When they discover an alien
spacecraft on the site, science graduate Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth
Winstead) and experienced researcher Dr Sander Halvorson (Ulrich
Thomsen) disagree about how to act. When Dr Halvorson refuses to
abandon his research, Kate teams up with tough Vietnam veteran Sam
Carter (Joel Edgerton) to pursue the alien intruders by helicopter.
