The third edition of the defining text for the graduate-level
course in Electricity and Magnetism has finally arrived! It has
been 37 years since the first edition and 24 since the second. The
new edition addresses the changes in emphasis and applications that
have occurred in the field, without any significant increase in
length.
Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.

The first book in the heart-warming White Giraffe series by Lauren
St John, featuring the African adventures of Martine and her
magical white giraffe. When tragedy strikes on a winter's night in
England, Martine is sent to live with her grandmother on a game
reserve in South Africa. Her wild, beautiful new home is riddled
with secrets, but lonely Martine finds comfort in the legend of a
white giraffe and in mysterious Grace, who believes Martine has a
powerful gift. Defying her grandmother by entering the reserve
alone, Martine is plunged into a world of danger, mystery and
adventure. Who can she trust? And how far will she go to save the
only friend she has ever known?
This book uses machine-learning to identify the causes of conflict
from among the top predictors of conflict. This methodology
elevates some complex causal pathways that cause civil conflict
over others, thus teasing out the complex interrelationships
between the most important variables that cause civil conflict.
Success in this realm will lead to scientific theories of conflict
that will be useful in preventing and ending civil conflict. After
setting out a current review of the literature and a case for using
machine learning to analyze and predict civil conflict, the authors
lay out the data set, important variables, and investigative
strategy of their methodology. The authors then investigate
institutional causes, economic causes, and sociological causes for
civil conflict, and how that feeds into their model. The
methodology provides an identifiable pathway for specifying causal
models. This book will be of interest to scholars in the areas of
economics, political science, sociology, and artificial
intelligence who want to learn more about leveraging machine
learning technologies to solve problems and who are invested in
preventing civil conflict.
The adventures of Martine and her magical white giraffe continue in
THE LAST LEOPARD and THE ELEPHANT'S TALE, as Martine races against
time to save the world's rarest leopard, and uncovers a terrible
plot deep in the Namibian desert. Join Martine and her magical
giraffe, Jemmy, in two more heart-warming adventures. In The Last
Leopard, an accident sends Martine and Ben on a journey to the
Matabo Hills in Zimbabwe where they must race against time to save
the world's rarest leopard - and each other. And In The Elephant's
Tale, Martine and Ben travel to the Namibian desert where they
uncover a terrible plot. These are books full of charm and
atmosphere and stunning African landscapes, which will enchant
animal lovers everywhere.
Businesses rely heavily on their culture to ensure sustainable
success, and company culture is invariably influenced by national
values. In an era of global hypercompetition, knowing the overall
values that guide one's business ventures is crucial, as it allows
for the greater understanding of other businesses and how they
operate. Cultural Factors and Performance in 21st Century
Businesses is a pivotal reference source that examines the
relationship between culture and trade. Covering a broad range of
topics including ethics, economic geography, and socialization
theory, this book examines cultures around the world and their
intersection with trade. This publication is ideally designed for
executives, managers, entrepreneurs, social scientists,
policymakers, academicians, researchers, and students.
In this, John David Krygelski's third and perhaps most powerful
novel yet, he creates a spine-tingling story of suspense, drama,
and intrigue. After the only child of the President - his teenaged
daughter, Neve - commits suicide in a violent and senseless act,
President Walker proposes an institution where people who have lost
all hope may enter. Motivated by his grief and compassion, Aegis,
intended to be a civilized alternative to suicide, is built and
opened. There are only two rules in Aegis: no communication is
allowed between the outside world and those who enter, and once
individuals go in...they can never leave. Twelve years pass and
what began as a noble social experiment has turned into a hideous
nightmare, fraught with controversy and public outrage. In
response, Elias Charon is selected by the new President to be the
first to enter Aegis and be allowed to leave. Ostensibly sent in to
investigate the claims of abuse, a darker and heinous personal
motive arises. With pulse-pounding suspense, The Aegis Solution
takes the reader through a twisting, turning plot to an explosive
and electrifying climax.
