Two classic operas --Pietro Mascagni's CAVALLERIA RUSICANA and Ruggero Leoncavallo's PAGLIACCI-- are performed in this vibrant 2009 production directed by Grischa Asagaroff. The 2 operas, which have been traditionally performed together since the late 19th century, star Jose Cura, Paoletta Marrocu and Lilianna Nikiteanu, accompanied by the Orchestra and Chorus of the Zurich Opera House.

Christian Thielemann conducts this performance of Verdi's tragic Italian opera based on the Shakesperian character Othello. Recorded live as part of the Osterfestpiele Salzburg at Großes Festspielhaus in the Austrian city, the Staatskapelle Dresden provide orchestral accompaniment to José Cura who plays the leading role of Otello, Dorothea Röschmann who plays his wife Desdemona and Carlos Álvarez playing Iago, Otello's ensign.
