Indeed, the results of Echegaray has accomplished in any one of these branches entitle him to a distinguished position. To the student of letters, this fact is the more interesting in that Echegaray's pronounced natural aptitude is for science and mathematics. The factors that have contributed largely to his success in the drama are unusual intellect, combined with imagination and will power to work and to preserve. O Locura O Santidad is one of his most celebrated plays.
