This historic structure report for the 1979 Station (1876 Type) with boat house and another for the 1925 Chatham Type Station was contracted by the National Park Service in anticipation of its impending move due to encroachment of the ocean and threat to the buildings and the site.

On site investigations of the lighthouse took place during the summer and fall of 2008. The National Park Service Southeast Regional Office contract with Joseph K. Oppermann to prepare this Historical Structure Report with a structural assessment/carrying-capacity analysis, a code compliance analysis with stair-loading recommendations, the testing of certain building materials and the preparation of a budget for repairs.
