A group of men find a wild, virgin site in New Jersey near which
soldiers of George Washington's army camped during the Revolution.
They have a vision of building a beautifull cemetery on the site as
an important community project, but have little resources. They are
swept up in the new concept of Memorial Parks as a cemetery plan
and decide to creat a cemetery rich in natural beauty, accentuated
with notable works of art. Their struggle to accomplish their goal
is told through the history of the cemetery's annual reports to
their association members. How to build a cemetery? Who are the
people who operate them, and what they mean to the millions who
visit them every day? This book will give you the answers.
"The Timid Marine" examines the courage of young men facing combat
in World War II during the battle for Okinawa. It takes four kids
from their hometowns to Parris Island Boot Camp, the South Pacific
and China.
The author, Joseph Lanciotti, describes combat with its fear,
and brutality that tested men whose vacillating courage ranged from
heroism to accusations of cowardice. Many young men and women today
are undergoing that same evaluation as they are deployed to serve
our country.
Equally well-suited to beginners and those with some previous
knowledge of the language, this is a comprehensive introduction to
Latin at an early level. Clearly structured, in each of the 31
units an explanation of new grammar is followed by Latin sentences
and passages. Where appropriate, a third section either introduces
you to a topic if interest for Latin studies or offers additional
reading from some of the great Roman authors. A section on the
pronunciaton of Latin and reading exercises are also included.
