Dark thriller by Korean director Chan Wook Park. A deaf mute, Ryu (Shin Ha-Kyun) saves all his hard-earned money for his sister who requires a kidney transplant. He has the wrong blood type to be able to donate one of his kidneys, so he arranges a trade with a group of black-market organ dealers: one of his kidneys and 10 million won in return for their finding a kidney for his sister. Just as the criminals renege on the deal, a legitimate kidney becomes available for transplant. Unfortunately, Ryu no longer has the 10 million won required for the hospital to perform the operation. In retaliation, he and his political activist girlfriend kidnap his former boss's daughter - but events quickly spiral quickly out of control...

Chan-wook Park directs this blood-soaked Korean vampire drama starring Kang-ho Song as Sang-Hyeon, a devoted small-town priest who selflessly volunteers to take part in a medical experiment intended to develop a vaccine that will help eradicate a deadly virus. But the experiment fails and he is given a blood transfusion that turns him into a vampire. Losing the struggle against his newfound desire for blood and carnality, Sang-Hyeon soon finds himself sucked into a vortex of depravity as he embarks on a passionate affair with Tae-ju (Ok-vin Kim), the wife of a childhood friend, and indulges himself in a dark new world of sin and sensual pleasure.

Korean special-effects-laden horror with comedic overtones sees dysfunctional family united in opposition to a gruesome foe from parts unknown. The Parks are an average suburban Seoul family; Park Senior, in his 60's, runs a kiosk by the Han River; his eldest son is a bit of a waste of skin whose wife has left him years ago with a young daughter; his younger son is a layabout with no intention of working; his daughter alone makes him proud - an prizewinning archer of note. Granddaughter little Hyun-Seo is the apple of everyone's eye so when she's abducted by a horrible monster that emerges from the depths of the Han one day, the family is righteously upset. The prospective loss of the only thing holding them all together, galvanizes them into a monster-hunting posse extraordinaire and off they go to slay the dreadful beast.
