The model-based investigation of motions of anthropomorphic systems
is an important interdisciplinary research topic involving
specialists from many fields such as Robotics, Biomechanics,
Physiology, Orthopedics, Psychology, Neurosciences, Sports,
Computer Graphics and Applied Mathematics. This book presents a
study of basic locomotion forms such as walking and running is of
particular interest due to the high demand on dynamic coordination,
actuator efficiency and balance control. Mathematical models and
numerical simulation and optimization techniques are explained, in
combination with experimental data, which can help to better
understand the basic underlying mechanisms of these motions and to
improve them. Example topics treated in this book are * Modeling
techniques for anthropomorphic bipedal walking systems * Optimized
walking motions for different objective functions * Identification
of objective functions from measurements * Simulation and
optimization approaches for humanoid robots * Biologically inspired
control algorithms for bipedal walking * Generation and deformation
of natural walking in computer graphics * Imitation of human
motions on humanoids * Emotional body language during walking *
Simulation of biologically inspired actuators for bipedal walking
machines * Modeling and simulation techniques for the development
of prostheses * Functional electrical stimulation of walking.
This textbook offers a comprehensive introduction to the
methodological and technical knowledge necessary for the
development of embedded systems. At first, the foundations of
embedded systems from the fields of electronics, systems theory and
control theory are introduced for computer scientists and engineers
without extensive knowledge of electrical engineering.
Subsequently, system components as well as digital communication
between embedded system nodes are discussed. The book ends with
procedures for the analysis of embedded systems and for real-time
processing. It is aimed at students and users of computer science
as well as engineers, physicists and mathematicians who are
interested in the basics of developing embedded systems.

With a specific focus on the needs of the designers and engineers in industrial settings, The Mechanical Systems Design Handbook: Modeling, Measurement, and Control presents a practical overview of basic issues associated with design and control of mechanical systems. In four sections, each edited by a renowned expert, this book answers diverse questions fundamental to the successful design and implementation of mechanical systems in a variety of applications.
Manufacturing addresses design and control issues related to manufacturing systems. From fundamental design principles to control of discrete events, machine tools, and machining operations to polymer processing and precision manufacturing systems.
Vibration Control explores a range of topics related to active vibration control, including piezoelectric networks, the boundary control method, and semi-active suspension systems.
Aerospace Systems presents a detailed analysis of the mechanics and dynamics of tensegrity structures
Robotics offers encyclopedic coverage of the control and design of robotic systems, including kinematics, dynamics, soft-computing techniques, and teleoperation.
Mechanical systems designers and engineers have few resources dedicated to their particular and often unique problems. The Mechanical Systems Design Handbook clearly shows how theory applies to real world challenges and will be a welcomed and valuable addition to your library.

neuronaler Netze fur technische Anwendungen.
