Virtually all nontrivial and modern service related problems and systems involve data volumes and types that clearly fall into what is presently meant as "big data", that is, are huge, heterogeneous, complex, distributed, etc. Data mining is a series of processes which include collecting and accumulating data, modeling phenomena, and discovering new information, and it is one of the most important steps to scientific analysis of the processes of services. Data mining application in services requires a thorough understanding of the characteristics of each service and knowledge of the compatibility of data mining technology within each particular service, rather than knowledge only in calculation speed and prediction accuracy. Varied examples of services provided in this book will help readers understand the relation between services and data mining technology. This book is intended to stimulate interest among researchers and practitioners in the relation between data mining technology and its application to other fields.

This book contains expanded versions of research papers presented at the international sessions of Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI), which was held online in June 2020. The JSAI annual conferences are considered key events for our organization, and the international sessions held at these conferences play a key role for the society in its efforts to share Japan's research on artificial intelligence with other countries. In recent years, AI research has proved of great interest to business people. The event draws both more and more presenters and attendees every year, including people of diverse backgrounds such as law and the social sciences, in additional to artificial intelligence. We are extremely pleased to publish this collection of papers as the research results of our international sessions.
This book presents selected and extended papers from the largest conference on artificial intelligence in Japan, which was expanded into an internationalized event for the first time in 2019: the 33rd Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI 2019), held on June 4-June 7, 2019 at TOKI MESSE in Niigata, Japan. The book's content has been divided into six major sections, on (I) knowledge engineering, (II) agents, (III) education and culture, (IV) natural language processing, (V) machine learning and data mining, and (VI) cyber physics. Given its scope, the book offers a valuable reference guide for professionals, undergraduate and graduate students engaged in disciplines, fields, technologies, or philosophies relevant to AI, e.g., computer/data science, robotics, linguistics, and physics, introducing them to recent advances in this area and discussing the human society of tomorrow.

This book constitutes extended, revised, and selected papers from the JSAI annual conference, JSAI 2022, and the 14th International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence, JSAI-isAI 2022, held in Kyoto, Japan, in June 2022. The 18 full papers were carefully selected from 67 submissions and presented during the two events: 16th International Workshop on Juris-informatics, JURISIN 2022, and JSAI 2022 Intenational Session. This papers present discussion on fundamental and practical issues in Juris-informatics among researchers from various backgrounds such as law, social science, information and intelligent technology, logic, and philosophy, including the conventional AI and Law area.Â

The papers are organized in the volume according to the following workshops: 15th International Workshop on Juris-Informatics, JURISIN 2021; 18th Workshop on Logic and Engineering of Natural Language Semantics, LENLS 18, 5th International Workshop on SCIentific DOCument Analysis, SCI-DOCA 2021; Workshop on Artificial Affective (Kansei) Intelligence, KANSEI-AI 2021; 5th Workshop on Artificial Intelligence of and for Business, AI-Biz 2021.

The JSAI annual conferences are considered key events for our organization, and the international sessions held at these conferences play a key role for the society in its efforts to share Japan's research on artificial intelligence with other countries. The topics of the international sessions in JSAI2021 cover five categories: knowledge engineering, machine learning, agents, robots and real worlds, and human interface and education aid. From the papers submitted to those categories, papers of high quality were selected through the strict reviewing procedure. As a result, 19 papers are included in this book. From this book, readers can get an overview of recent Japan's research on artificial intelligence.
This book constitutes extended, revised, and selected papers from the 12th International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence supported by the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, JSAI-isAI 2020. Organized in the Tokyo Institute of Technology, it was held virtually due to COVID-19 pandemic. The 19 full papers were carefully selected from 50 submissions and present two workshops: Logic and Engineering of Natural Language Semantics (LENLS 2020) focus on the formal and theoretical aspects of natural language. It is an annual International Workshop recognized internationally in the formal syntax-semantics-pragmatics community. The 14th International Workshop on Juris-informatics (JURISIN 2020) details legal issues for the perspective of information science. This workshop covers a wide range of topics, including any theories and technologies which are not directly related with juris-informatics but have a potential to contribute to this domain.
