As a follow up to his book `Holywood Its Cinema & Other
Memories' the author has written another reminiscing on Holywood
around the 60's and 70s'. With a mixture of advertisements,
snippets of news and photographs he brings the reader back to
remember those years gone by in Holywood. Although Holywood's
development and population has expanded over the years its shops
and businesses have continued to exist mainly in the same areas.
The structures of many shops have mostly remained the same but the
types of businesses have changed, what was once a sweet shop may
now be a cafe. Looking at an advertisement or photo helps recover
lost memories of those places that once were important in our
everyday life, be it commercially or for pleasure. The author has
put together a book to help re-live those memories. The reader will
find the book will help as they travel back in time to reminisce on
their younger days in Holywood & the shops, restaurants &
services that were available and a part of their life.
The author was born in Holywood, County Down, and has lived all his
life there. For a period of time he worked in the Holywood Cinema
and he believes that, since it has now gone but was once a part of
the fabric of Holywood, it is worth recording its existence. He
decided to write this little book and give readers a short idea of
how the cinema operated, its history and his personal experiences.
The author takes a brief look at some of the people involved in
what was our local cinema and their jobs, as well as what was
involved in keeping the films showing. Along with this he has added
some other bits of local news, personal memories and changes that
have happened over the years in the town, recently and in the past.
Every year thousands of people die from smoking-related diseases
throughout the world. The dangers of smoking have been highlighted
for many years via television, radio, newspapers etc., but to a lot
of people it would not appear to deter them from the habit.
However, if you were to speak to a lot of these people you may find
that they would stop, if they could. In this book the author looks
at the effects that smoking can have, why we start and the methods
we use to try to overcome the habit. He gives guidance on how to
use mental and visualisation suggestions in order to help stop the
habit. The author has trained in the use of visualisation
techniques as well as relaxation therapy and is a qualified
trainer. is studies have also included smoking cessation, autogenic
training, and natural therapeutics. He believes the power of the
mind if properly used can make changes within ourselves that can
ultimately help us change our thoughts and our future.
Arising from a New Zealand context and touching on universal
issues, Connections offers 45 responses from the people of Dunedin
Methodist Parish to the challenge of being church and living out
the gospel in their community. A comment from one member typifies
the strong faith, humble attitude, realism and grace which the
Parish brings to its work: "My faith, such as it is, helps me to
live as well as I can, and motivates me to do what I can to help
others." Readers will find themselves laughing, surprised, angered
and affirmed, but mostly, nodding in agreement and encouraged in
their personal spiritual journey and in their Christian responses
to the people around them. The articles, selected from weekly

The idea of ghosts existing is hard for most people to believe, but
there is an accumulation of evidence in that appears to prove
otherwise. Until one is actually involved in investigating the
subject, an opinion cannot truly be formed one way or the other.
The author, who has spent years of studying and investigating the
paranormal, has written this book to help those who want to prove
that there are ghosts in existence, or even to prove that they do
not exist. With years of expertise in the subject, he keeps an open
mind when confronted with any potentially paranormal phenomena, and
checks everything very carefully before coming to a conclusion.
With the help of this book, the paranormal investigator will be
able to take steps to discover if there is a ghost haunting a
location, who they were in life and why they're haunting that
location now, and perhaps provide sufficient evidence to prove the
ghost's existence, or that any phenomena experienced have a natural
explanation.
