Since ADHD became a well-known condition, decades ago, much of the
research and clinical discourse has focused on youth. In recent
years, attention has expanded to the realm of adult ADHD and the
havoc it can wreak on many aspects of adult life, including driving
safety, financial management, education and employment, and
interpersonal difficulties. Adult ADHD-Focused Couple Therapy
breaks new ground in explaining and suggesting approaches for
treating the range of challenges that ADHD can create within a most
important and delicate relationship: the intimate couple. With the
help of contributors who are experts in their specialties, Pera and
Robin provide the clinician with a step-by-step, nuts-and-bolts
approach to help couples enhance their relationship and improve
domestic cooperation. This comprehensive guide includes
psychoeducation, medication guidelines, cognitive interventions,
co-parenting techniques, habit change and communication strategies,
and ADHD-specific clinical suggestions around sexuality, money, and
cyber-addictions. More than twenty detailed case studies provide
real-life examples of ways to implement the interventions.

The growth history of a brachiopod is entombed in its shell and internally there is a huge range of differing structures and morphological detail used by several authors as examples of ontogenetic and evolutionary change, as indicators of taxonomic relationships or discussion concerning micro-structural shell morphology. Population studies of living and fossil species and strands of recent progress in molecular phylogeny are all presented. This single compilation, an up-to-the minute resume of knowledge and research into brachiopods, is a must for postgraduate students and researchers in evolution, zoology, geology, palaeontology and related fields. eBook available with sample pages: 0203210433

The author argues for the continued importance of NGOs, social
movements and other 'civil society' actors in creating new forms of
citizenship and democracy in South Africa. Critics of liberalism in
Europe and North America argue that a stress on 'rights talk' and
identity politics has led to fragmentation, individualisation and
depoliticisation. But are these developments really signs of 'the
end ofpolitics'? In the post-colonial, post-apartheid, neo-liberal
new South Africa poor and marginalised citizens continue to
struggle for land, housing and health care. They must respond to
uncertainty and radical contingencies on a daily basis. This
requires multiple strategies, an engaged, practised citizenship,
one that links the daily struggle to well organised mobilisation
around claiming rights. Robins argues for the continued importance
of NGOs, socialmovements and other 'civil society' actors in
creating new forms of citizenship and democracy. He goes beyond the
sanitised prescriptions of 'good governance' so often touted by
development agencies. Instead he argues for a complex, hybrid and
ambiguous relationship between civil society and the state, where
new negotiations around citizenship emerge. Steven L. Robins is
Professor of Social Anthropology in the University of Stellenbosch
and editorof Limits to Liberation after Apartheid (James Currey).
Using full-colour palaeogeographical maps from the Cambrian to the
present, this interdisciplinary volume explains how plate motions
and surface volcanism are linked to processes in the Earth's
mantle, and to climate change and the evolution of the Earth's
biota. These new and very detailed maps provide a complete and
integrated Phanerozoic story of palaeogeography. They illustrate
the development of all the major mountain-building orogenies. Old
lands, seas, ice caps, volcanic regions, reefs, and coal beds are
highlighted on the maps, as well as faunal and floral provinces.
Many other original diagrams show sections from the Earth's core,
through the mantle, and up to the lithosphere, and how Large
Igneous Provinces are generated, helping to understand how plates
have appeared, moved, and vanished through time. Supplementary
resources are available online, making this an invaluable reference
for researchers, graduate students, professional geoscientists and
anyone interested in the geological history of the Earth.

"New South African Keywords "sets out to do two things. The first
is to provide a guide to the key words and key concepts that have
come to shape public and political thought and debate in South
Africa since 1994. The second purpose is to provide a compendium of
cutting-edge thinking on the new society. In this respect some of
the most exciting thinkers and commentators on South Africa have
tried to capture the complexity of current debates. The result is a
concise and insightful guide to postapartheid South Africa, which
should be useful to students, citizens, tourists, business
managers, decision makers--in fact, to anyone wanting to make sense
of South African society today.
The conditions for democracy in South Africa cannot be taken for
granted as many South African citizens remain on the margins,
outside of the formal democratic system. The post-apartheid public
sphere in South Africa has been characterised by race tensions and
distrust. Socio-economic inequalities and structural unemployment
are contributing to widespread crises. In addressing the conceptual
andempirical questions relating to the transition to democracy, the
contributors to this volume take the questions of culture and
identity seriously, drawing attention to the creative agency of
citizens of the 'new' South Africa. They raise important questions
concerning the limits of citizenship and procedural democracy.

Parent-adolescent discord is often handled from a unitary
perspective, whether the focus is on enhancing parenting skills,
resolving conflicts in family relationships, or working to improve
the behavior of the individual child. This important work shows the
clinician how to incorporate all of these crucial elements into a
single, research-based treatment program. Presented is the authors'
influential integration of cognitive-behavioral constructs and
family systems theory, grounded in consideration of adolescent
developmental concerns. The book describes effective ways to
conceptualize and assess the problems of embattled parents and
teens; use assessment data in treatment planning; overcome
resistance and other therapeutic hurdles; and implement carefully
sequenced skills training, cognitive restructuring, and
functional/structural interventions. The theoretical and empirical
bases of the treatment approach are also discussed in depth.
