Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.

1845. This work contains the most interesting trial for witchcraft
ever known, printed from an imperfect manuscript by Mary
Schweidler's father, Abraham Schweidler, the Pastor of Coserow, in
the island of Usedom. After careful examination into the nature and
characteristics of witchcraft, Meinhold perceived that among all
these strange and often romantic stories, not one surpassed the
"amber witch" in lively interest; and he decided to throw her
adventures into the form of a romance. Also found in this volume
are thes tale entitled "Undine" and "Sintram and His Companions," a
Northern tale from the German of Baron de la Motte Fouque.
But now the glorious African summer is come, and I believe this is
the weather of Paradise. I got up at four this morning, when the
Dutchmen who had slept here were starting in their carts and
waggons. It was quite light; but the moon shone brilliantly still,
and had put on a bright rose-coloured veil, borrowed from the
rising sun on the opposite horizon.

This is volume one of a three-volume set. Essential to any study of
the rise of Brandenburg-Prussia, the work was based on Ranke's
indefatigable research into the original documents of the Prussian
archives, and presents the basic starting point for the history of
the two Fredericks. This is a reprint of the English translation of
1849 by Sir Alexander and Lady Duff Gordon. This title is cited and
recommended by: Books for College Libraries.
This is a pre-1923 historical reproduction that was curated for
