Libby Parsons (Ashley Judd) is a woman wrongly convicted for
murdering her husband (Bruce Greenwood). When she finds out that
her husband is alive and well and had staged his 'death' in order
to frame her, she vows revenge. Released on early parole, she skips
town and goes out in search of him, causing her parole officer
(Tommy Lee Jones) to go on her trail.
As the victim of appalling domestic abuse, Sara Burney (Julia
Roberts) stages her own disappearance to escape her monstrous
husband (Patrick Bergin). However, even a new town and a new name
cannot stop her husband and when he discovers where she is, he
wants revenge.
