Falla's showpiece was first composed as a gitaneria for voice,
actors and chamber orchestra in 1914-15. He later prepared a
version for voice and orchestra which was premiered the next year.
This was in turn transformed into a one-act ballet for voice and
orchestra, which is how it is usually performed today. The new
vocal score offered here is a digitally enhanced reissue of the
composer's own arrangement for voice and piano first published in
1920 by J. & W. Chester of London. Unlike so many of the
on-demand scores now available, this one comes with all the pages
and the images have been thoroughly checked to make sure it is
readable. As with all PLP scores a percentage of each sale is
donated to the amazing online archive of free music scores and
recordings, IMSLP - Petrucci Music Library.
A live performance of Manuel de Falla's opera from the Palau de les
Arts in Valencia. Written in 1905, the opera tells the story of a
poor gypsy girl, Salud, who is passionately in love with a young
well-to-do man named Paco. Unfortunately, she does not know, and
Paco does not tell her, that he is already engaged to a girl of his
own class. The performers featured include Chilean soprano Cristina
Gallardo-Domâs, as well as Jorge de León and María Luisa Corbacho.
The second of two albums of piano music by Manuel De Falla.
Includes: Cancion, Cortego De Gnomos, Vals-Capricho, Fantasia
Baetica, and Canto De Los Remeros Del Vorga. Plus Dance Of The
Miller's Wife and Dance Of The Corregidor (Danza Del Corregidor),
from Three Cornered Hat.
