The legal, political and economic rationales that underpin trade
policy are reflected in the establishment and implementation of EU
trade relations with the rest of the world. This comprehensive
Handbook provides readers with a multidisciplinary overview of the
major perspectives, actors and challenges in contemporary EU trade
relations. Changes in institutional dynamics, Brexit, the
politicisation of trade, competing foreign policy agendas, and
adaptation to trade patterns of value chains and the digital and
knowledge economy are reshaping the European Union's trade policy.
The authors tackle how these challenges frame the aims, processes
and effectiveness of trade policy making in the context of the EU
trade relations with developed, developing and emerging states in
the global economy. This Handbook presents students and
practitioners with an accessible introduction to the policy
processes in the EU?'s trade policy. Policy-makers, especially
those outside of the EU, will also gain key knowledge regarding the
trade policies of the EU by reading this. Contributors include: J.

Whether embodied in literature, theater, or film, an enduring theme
of many artistic works has been the protagonist's search for
identity. Such quests are typically psychological or spiritual
journeys and depicted on the screen in a variety of
manifestations-endeavors embarked upon to address an emotional
trauma or to overcome an obstacle in the hero's life. Using Jean
Cocteau's La Belle et La Bete as a leitmotif, these pursuits are
discussed by author Maria Garcia as encounters with the "Beast." At
the end of their quests, heroes are reborn into their new
identities, while the Beast disappears, transforms, or dies. In
Cinematic Quests for Identity: The Hero's Encounter with the Beast,
Garcia examines the cinematic conventions of the male and female
search for individuation across several genres. After discussing La
Belle et La Bete, the author looks at a number of films including
three iconic male journeys-The Picture of Dorian Gray, The
Searchers, and The Deer Hunter. Additional chapters focus on The
Silence of the Lambs, Bringing Up Baby, The Lady Eve, The Secret of
Roan Inish, The Natural, and Moneyball. The book concludes with a
consideration of the three fairy tale films by Catherine
Breillat-Fat Girl, Bluebeard, and The Sleeping Beauty-and the
female characters in several Robert Bresson films, including The
Trial of Joan of Arc. Providing a unique and original perspective
on films throughout the world, this provocative book draws upon
Jungian thought, as well as several literary traditions including
fairy tales, epic poetry, and Greek and Celtic mythology. Aimed at
scholars of film and film theory, Cinematic Quests for Identity
will also appeal to movie fans interested in a deeper understanding
of films that explore a character's struggle to live a conscious
life.

Fifteen thousand years before Europeans stepped foot in the
Americas, people had already spread from tip to tip and coast to
coast. Like all humans, these Native Americans sought to understand
their place in the universe, the nature of their relationship with
the divine, and the origin of the world into which their ancestors
had emerged. The answers lay in their sacred stories. Author Maria
Garcia Esperon, illustrator Amanda Mijangos, and translator David
Bowles have gifted us a treasure. Their talents have woven this
collection of stories from nations and cultures across our two
continents-the Sea-Ringed World, as the Aztecs called it-from the
edge of Argentina all the way up to Alaska. The Em Querido list
seeks to introduce the finest books in translation from around the
world to an American audience. We feel lucky to be bringing you
this book on our inaugural list, which we hope will be a true
window and mirror.

For over forty years, Cold War concerns about the threat of
communism shaped the contours of refugee and asylum policy in the
United States, and the majority of those admitted as refugees came
from communist countries. In the post-Cold War period, a wider
range of geopolitical and domestic interests influence which
populations policymakers prioritize for admission. The Refugee
Challenge in Post-Cold War America examines the actors and
interests that have shaped refugee and asylum policy since 1989.
Policymakers are now considering a wider range of populations as
potentially eligible for protection: victims of civil unrest,
genocide, trafficking, environmental upheaval, and gender-based
discrimination, among others. Many of those granted protected
status since 1989 would never have been considered for admission
during the Cold War. Among the challenges of the post-Cold War era
are the growing number of asylum seekers who have petitioned for
protection at a port of entry and are backlogging the immigration
courts. Concerns over national security have also resulted in
deterrence policies that have raised important questions about the
rights of refugees and the duties of nations. Maria Cristina Garcia
evaluates the challenges of reconciling international humanitarian
obligations with domestic concerns for national security.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the Blockchain and Robotic
Process Automation (RPA) Forum which was held as part of the 18th
International Conference on Business Process Management, BPM 2020.
The conference was planned to take place in Seville, Spain, in
September 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the conference took
place virtually. The Blockchain Forum and the RPA Forum have in
common that they are centered around an emerging and exciting
technology. The blockchain is a sophisticated distributed ledger
technology, while RPA software allows for mimicking human,
repetitive actions. Each of these have the potential to
fundamentally change how business processes are being orchestrated
and executed in practice. The BPM community has embraced these
technologies as objects of analysis, design, development, and
evaluation. The 14 full plus one short paper presented in this
volume were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 28
submissions.
