Wingin' It is the ultimate story of hope over hate, the insightful
autobiography of a footballer who beat the bigots. Due to the
colour of his skin, Mark Walters always felt he needed to be twice
as good as other players in order to succeed. But Mark drew
inspiration from the way the late Cyrille Regis handled his racist
detractors, and went on to fulfil his potential by flaunting his
dazzling ball skills for England. While a starry-eyed kid in
Birmingham, he somehow escaped the clutches of evil paedophile Ted
Langford, although his mate wasn't so fortunate. He became an idol
of the Villa Park terraces, though his move to Scotland was almost
halted by a bloodthirsty mob who pelted him with bananas and pigs'
feet. But Walters stood firm to become one of England's most
popular exports. After a third successive league title, a GBP1.25
million move to Liverpool reunited him with Graeme Souness. Mark
rewrote the record books at Anfield, but would ultimately call his
decision to head south 'the biggest mistake of my career'.
Continuing in the groundbreaking format of "Lessons from Armed
America" (co-written with Mark Walters and Kathy Jackson) "Lessons
from UN-armed America" brings everyday self-defense stories to
life. Mark Walters tells the story and Rob Pincus (one of the
world's greatest personal defense trainers) follows it with
analysis and commentary. You will learn from the experiences of
others and, with the benefit of hindsight and many years of study
and experience, the lessons you take away from this work may one
day save your life.

Elaine West is a young girl growing up in Fresno, California in the
wake of the Great Depression. While her family, like all families
of the time, has struggled to make ends meet over the past few
years, her life is generally happy and free from worry. Free, that
is, until the attack on Hawaii's Pearl Harbor plunges the United
States suddenly and unexpectedly into a global war. Now, the only
thing standing between the enemy and Elaine's home city of Fresno,
California is less than two hundred miles and a vast, unprotected,
open sea. Written in the tradition of Johnny Tremain and Across
Five Aprils, When the Lights Go On Again takes you back to
California in the 1940s, depicting everyday life and the war that
shaped it. Be there with Elaine as she grows up during the most
destructive conflict the world has ever seen. See the lives of the
people of Fresno during those dark years-- blackout drills,
shortages, food and gasoline rationing. Meet the young men from
throughout the nation who came through Fresno, headed for the
battlefields of the Pacific. Witness a nation of immigrants harass
and imprison their Japanese neighbors, casting their humanity aside
amid the terrifying realities of war. Learn, as Elaine did, of such
horrors as the Bataan Death March and the Holocaust. Watch the dawn
of the atomic age. See all of this and more, through the eyes of a
young girl who is quickly becoming a young woman as she tries
desperately to make sense of it all.

This book investigates the Dan/Danite tradition in the Hebrew Bible
in order to determine not only what the Bible tells us about Dan,
but also how far traditions about the territory, city, ancestor and
tribe may have influenced each other. Bartusch argues that the
political and theological interests reflected in the relatively
late work of the Deuteronomistic historian have cast a shadow over
some earlier traditions, and that by combining social-science
models and newer literary criticism with the more traditional
historical-critical methodologies, the original meaning of the
traditions of Dan may be recovered and clarified. The conclusion of
such a study is that the Hebrew Bible as a whole does not entirely
support the negative portrayal of Dan in its later traditions.
