Providing a timely account of European security developments, this
edited collection delves into the theoretical and political debates
central to European security cooperation. The essays analyze the
interaction between states and institutions as they shape European
security cooperation in the wake of the Cold War. After outlining
the goals and context of the project, the book turns to case
studies of the roles and policies of the U.S., Russia, Germany, and
France. European security, institutions, and arms control regimes,
such as the European Union, the Western European Union, NATO, and
the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe are
examined. Conventional forces in Europe, and confidence and
security building measures are also explored. Throughout, the
contributors focus on the possibilities and limits of security
cooperation as Europe prepares for the next century. Students and
scholars concerned with international security issues,
international relations theory, and European security and politics
will be particularly interested.
Each of the 366 meditations in this gathering of wisdom is designed
to move readers away from turmoil, strife, and divisiveness and
lead them toward peace, resolution, and cooperation. This shift in
consciousness is challenging, but with the words and ideas of this
book, readers can assemble a collection of practical tools for
peaceful living.
The learned behaviors of cynicism, resentment, and getting even are
replaced with the skills of Nonviolent Communication, including
recognizing one's needs and values and making choices in alignment
with them.
"Peaceful Living" goes beyond daily affirmations, providing the
skills and consciousness you need to transform relationships, heal
pain, and discover the life-enriching meaning behind even the most
trying situations. Begin each day centered and connected to
yourself and your values. Direct the course of your life toward
your deepest hopes and needs. Ground yourself in the power of
compassionate, conscious living.
For some time now, C-arm fluoroscopy-guided spinal injections have
been performed widely for both the diagnosis and management of
spinal and paraspinal pain. Despite this common use, many residents
and pain fellows do not receive formal training in the anatomy of
the vertebral column as it relates to radiographic imaging, nor do
they receive any training in fluoroscopic imaging. While books do
exist on the subject, they only show the final needle position for
spinal injections, and offer very limited instruction. The Handbook
of C-Arm Fluoroscopy-Guided Spinal Injections provides residents
and fellows with a handbook that illustrates spinal injections in a
step-by step fashion, while also describing fluoroscopic imaging
and spinal anatomy as they relate to spinal injections, including
the manipulation of the C-arm fluoroscope that is required in order
to obtain ideal images for the performance of injections. Based on
a lengthy study of the relationships between skeletal models, the
matching fluoroscopic image, and the desired needle placement in
the cervical, lumbar, and sacral spinal regions, the text recreates
those images that effectively demonstrate the relationships between
the angle of the x-ray beam and the spinal column. Those chapters
describing the fluoroscopic imaging of the cervical, lumbar, and
sacral spine, provide details on how the trainee would go about
obtaining the views needed to approach the spine in a safe and
effective manor at each level. The book also provides comprehensive
information on performing stellate and lumbar sympathetic
injections using fluoroscopy, taking readers through step-by-step
approaches to each of the sympathetic blocks, while offering
insights into how to ascertain the correct needle position at each
level. Simply and succinctly written, The Handbook of C-Arm
Fluoroscopy-Guided Spinal Injections provides the field of pain
management with a useful teaching aide for residents and fellows
striving to improve their skills in the performance of spinal
injections. .
Ambitious and confident, almost-30-year-old Joi-Marie refuses to
believe the gloomy statistics on single women marrying and
hilariously questions when the marriage deck became stacked against
women like her. But, feeling the pressure to wed, Joi-Marie decides
to play "the engagement game" a five-step process handed down by
her older married sister. When she slowly becomes a person she
doesn't recognize, or even like, Joi-Marie ends up finding the true
key to unlocking love-herself. Joi-Marie reveals--often with laugh
out loud humor--the deeply personal thoughts and feelings many
single women dare say out loud. Written almost like a novel,
Joi-Marie takes readers on her raw journey to inner growth--without
giving up on the idea of marriage.
