Why is there something rather than nothing? A fundamental question
which goes to the very heart of creation and existence. Yet there
are only two realistic options: 'Intelligent Design', or 'Accident
of Chance' - a choice between 'God' and 'Science'. Religion,
however, lacks objective evidential support, and requires no
justification beyond unconditional belief, while science addresses
only material creation, but ignores essential 'intangibles' -
mathematics, logic and rationality - without which the universe
would not be able to function. These are the Enigmas of creation,
and this book addresses all aspects as equally important, including
theories of creation, the purpose and nature of the universe,
implications of time, concepts of reality and existence, life
(biological, artificial and destiny), laws of nature, metaphysical
concepts of 'pre-creation', the nature of 'higher intelligence',
and the validity and limitations of 'human' Probability. Proposals
put forward include, that 'the future' does not exist - only
indefinite perpetuation of increments of 'present'; laws of nature
being stored by digital encoding onto quantum fluctuations of
vacuum energy; and that quantum gravity does not exist. The book
collates and evaluates these topics, to compare and prioritize the
relative significance of 'real' and 'speculative' arguments, and
reaches a 'balance of evidence' conclusion as to why the universe
exists - Accident or Design?
Flexible
Arbeitszeiten, langfristige redaktionelle Planung, ein
moderierender Fuhrungsstil und berufliche Reflexion sind weitere
Mittel zur Pravention von Burnout.
The purpose of this research was to determine if computer network
operations force presentation determination could benefit from
studying examples from how functional combatant commands presented
other forces and capabilities to the geographic combatant commands.
Specifically, this study researched how the US Strategic Command
presented space capabilities, how US Transportation Command
presented logistics capabilities and how US Special Operations
Command presented special operations forces. The research objective
was achieved through a literature review of joint doctrine. The key
topics examined in the literature review include: how do functional
combatant commands interrelate with geographic combatant commands,
how do combatant commands command and control cross-domain
dependencies, and how do combatant commands manage cross-title
relationships. The survey first looked for overarching lessons
learned but determined each example (space, logistics, and special
operations) necessarily used different force presentation models
based upon resource allocation. This literature review of joint
doctrine indicates US Strategic Command should consider
implementing the following three actions in order to enact a
strategy of developing organic CNO forces within each GCC. US
Strategic Command should: (a) adapt the space SCA and proponent
concepts. (b) use the logistics force presentation model as an
intermediary step towards organic force presentation. (c) endorse a
strategy of organic CNO force presentation within each GCC.

Describing Einstein's work is not easy. For such a diverse subject,
'difficult' is misleading, for it depends as much on the recipient
as on the content, yet based on 'selective impressions' relativity
has a daunting reputation, which deters many, and has gone
unquestioned for years. This book takes a critical look at that
image, and by ignoring the practical needs of professionals, places
relativity in a very different perspective; harder parts are less
common, but often matter least for general purposes; no knowledge
of mathematics at all is necessary to fully understand what
relativity says and means (contrary to popular belief), and on that
basis, understanding Einstein should be within the grasp of every
student interested to try, and with the motivation to succeed.
To achieve this aim, an approach has been adopted which places
emphasis on meaning over content, with the ultimate objective that
understanding is what matters most, rather than provision of facts
and information. The book is aimed at a very wide range of
potential readers, from complete novice to university level, with
format and content material adapted accordingly. The general layout
is modular, with topics classified under three categories of
difficulty, to meet different levels of interest and aptitude, and
these grades are identified in the contents section preceding each
chapter.
Readers can thus customise their choice of reading, while cross
referencing and frequent summaries facilitate moving between
levels. Little mathematics is included in the text (and can all be
skipped), but for advanced readers, a very full selection of
equations (most with derivations from first principles) has been
includedin a series of appendices which follow each chapter. An
unusual feature is a chapter on cosmology, for those who wish to
follow the logical consequences of general relativity. There is a
very extensive glossary.
