Coming face-to-face with their parents' kidnappers, the sisters are stunned when one of them turns out to be the world's most famous fairy-tale character (hint: she wears red) and the other an unstoppable killing-machine known as the Jabberwocky. Without the presumed-dead Mr. Canis (aka The Big Bad Wolf) fighting at their side, the girls have little hope that they'll ever be reunited with their mother and father. That is until their long-lost Uncle Jake returns home with stories of a weapon that can kill the Jabberwocky a weapon so powerful that it had to be shattered into many pieces. Now the girls must find the pieces so the deadly weapon can be reformed. But to get the deed done they'll have to go head-to-head with the Wizard of Oz, the (not so) Little Mermaid, and even the horrible witch Baba Yaga. The NERDS series combines the excitement of international espionage with the awkwardness of elementary school as it follows the adventures of a group of unpopular fifth graders who run a spy network from inside their school. With the help of cutting-edge science, they transform their nerdy qualities into incredible abilities, and the results are awesome, inspiring--and hilarious. A virus has infected Arlington, Virginia, home of NERDS headquarters, and it's much worse than your run-of-the-mill flu. Instead of coughing and sneezing, the victims of this voracious virus are transformed into superintelligent criminal masterminds. Soon nearly everyone--including some of the NERDS team--is plotting to take over the world. And who's to blame for this nasty infection? None other than former NERDS teammate Heathcliff Hodges. With more people breaking out into evil cackles every day, it's up to Flinch, the hyperactive superspy with a sweet tooth, to stop the virus. He needs to destroy the virus at its source, and to do that he's going to have to get inside Heathcliff's head--literally. Flinch will have to miniaturize himself and take a fantastic voyage through the supervillain's body to fight white blood cells, stomach acid, and a nest of nasty nanobytes in the hope that he can save the world from . . . the Villain Virus.

Cornelius Michael Buckley, S.J. delves into Stephen Larigaudelle Dubuisson's life, using him as the point of departure to describe the tensions among Jesuits in Maryland after the restoration of the order in 1814. A refugee of the violent slave rebellions in Haiti, where he was born, and the Terror in France, Dubuisson became a clerk in Napoleon's personal treasury and a resident in the Tuileries. He was a member of Marie Louise's flight in 1814 and later differed with Napoleon's account of the fate of the lost treasury during this momentous event. The following year, giving up a promising career in the Restoration government, he entered the slave-owning Jesuits in Maryland. Ten years later, he was the priest involved in the Mattingly Miracle. After a brief tenure as Georgetown's fourteenth president, Dubuisson spent three years in Europe advising the Jesuit general how to keep his American troops in step along the Ignatian "long black line." During this time, he began his career as a fundraiser and propagandist for the American Church and as an unofficial, and sometimes vexing, diplomat of the general in the courts of Europe. After his return, Dubuisson served as a parish priest in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Elected a second time to represent the Maryland Jesuits at a meeting in Rome, he never returned to the United States and eventually became chaplain to the dashing Duke and Duchess de Montmorency Laval. Recognized as "the chief pillar of the Jesuit mission in the United States," he died in Pau, France, during the height of the American Civil War.
