This book is a collection of selected papers presented at the 10th
International Conference on Scientific Computing in Electrical
Engineering (SCEE), held in Wuppertal, Germany in 2014. The book is
divided into five parts, reflecting the main directions of SCEE
2014: 1. Device Modeling, Electric Circuits and Simulation, 2.
Computational Electromagnetics, 3. Coupled Problems, 4. Model Order
Reduction, and 5. Uncertainty Quantification. Each part starts with
a general introduction followed by the actual papers. The aim of
the SCEE 2014 conference was to bring together scientists from
academia and industry, mathematicians, electrical engineers,
computer scientists, and physicists, with the goal of fostering
intensive discussions on industrially relevant mathematical
problems, with an emphasis on the modeling and numerical simulation
of electronic circuits and devices, electromagnetic fields, and
coupled problems. The methodological focus was on model order
reduction and uncertainty quantification.
This book discusses the state-of-the-art and open problems in
computational finance. It presents a collection of research
outcomes and reviews of the work from the STRIKE project, an FP7
Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) project in which
academic partners trained early-stage researchers in close
cooperation with a broader range of associated partners, including
from the private sector. The aim of the project was to arrive at a
deeper understanding of complex (mostly nonlinear) financial models
and to develop effective and robust numerical schemes for solving
linear and nonlinear problems arising from the mathematical theory
of pricing financial derivatives and related financial products.
This was accomplished by means of financial modelling, mathematical
analysis and numerical simulations, optimal control techniques and
validation of models. In recent years the computational complexity
of mathematical models employed in financial mathematics has
witnessed tremendous growth. Advanced numerical techniques are now
essential to the majority of present-day applications in the
financial industry. Special attention is devoted to a uniform
methodology for both testing the latest achievements and
simultaneously educating young PhD students. Most of the
mathematical codes are linked into a novel computational finance
toolbox, which is provided in MATLAB and PYTHON with an open access
license. The book offers a valuable guide for researchers in
computational finance and related areas, e.g. energy markets, with
an interest in industrial mathematics.

The volume includes selected and reviewed papers from the 3rd
Conference on Ignition Systems for Gasoline Engines in Berlin in
November 2016. Experts from industry and universities discuss in
their papers the challenges to ignition systems in providing
reliable, precise ignition in the light of a wide spread in mixture
quality, high exhaust gas recirculation rates and high cylinder
pressures. Classic spark plug ignition as well as alternative
ignition systems are assessed, the ignition system being one of the
key technologies to further optimizing the gasoline engine.
This book provides an overview of the techniques central to lattice
quantum chromodynamics, including modern developments. The book has
four chapters. The first chapter explains the formulation of quarks
and gluons on a Euclidean lattice. The second chapter introduces
Monte Carlo methods and details the numerical algorithms to
simulate lattice gauge fields. Chapter three explains the
mathematical and numerical techniques needed to study quark fields
and the computation of quark propagators. The fourth chapter is
devoted to the physical observables constructed from lattice fields
and explains how to measure them in simulations. The book is aimed
at enabling graduate students who are new to the field to carry out
explicitly the first steps and prepare them for research in lattice
QCD.
Designing complex integrated circuits relies heavily on
mathematical methods and calls for suitable simulation and
optimization tools. The current design approach involves
simulations and optimizations in different physical domains
(device, circuit, thermal, electromagnetic) and in a range of
electrical engineering disciplines (logic, timing, power,
crosstalk, signal integrity, system functionality). COMSON was a
Marie Curie Research Training Network created to meet these new
scientific and training challenges by (a) developing new
descriptive models that take these mutual dependencies into
account, (b) combining these models with existing circuit
descriptions in new simulation strategies and (c) developing new
optimization techniques that will accommodate new designs. The book
presents the main project results in the fields of PDAE modeling
and simulation, model order reduction techniques and optimization,
based on merging the know-how of three major European semiconductor
companies with the combined expertise of university groups
specialized in developing suitable mathematical models, numerical
schemes and e-learning facilities. In addition, a common
Demonstrator Platform for testing mathematical methods and
approaches was created to assess whether they are capable of
addressing the industry's problems, and to educate young
researchers by providing hands-on experience with state-of-the-art
problems.

academia to promote the use of innovative mathematics in industry.
This contributed volume convenes a rich selection of works with a
focus on innovative mathematical methods with applications in
real-world, industrial problems. Studies included in this book are
all motivated by a relevant industrial challenge, and demonstrate
that mathematics for industry can be extremely rewarding, leading
to new mathematical methods and sometimes even to entirely new
fields within mathematics. The book is organized into two parts:
Computational Sciences and Engineering, and Data Analysis and
Finance. In every chapter, readers will find a brief description of
why such work fits into this volume; an explanation on which
industrial challenges have been instrumental for their inspiration;
and which methods have been developed as a result. All these
contribute to a greater unity of the text, benefiting not only
practitioners and professionals seeking information on novel
techniques but also graduate students in applied mathematics,
engineering, and related fields.
This book discusses the development of the Rosenbrock-Wanner
methods from the origins of the idea to current research with the
stable and efficient numerical solution and differential-algebraic
systems of equations, still in focus. The reader gets a
comprehensive insight into the classical methods as well as into
the development and properties of novel W-methods, two-step and
exponential Rosenbrock methods. In addition, descriptive
applications from the fields of water and hydrogen network
simulation and visual computing are presented.
anhand seiner Schriften eindeutig belegen.

Hochschule fur Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg (Fachbereich

daruber hinaus (z.B. Gefahrgutdatenbank, wichtige Rufnummern,

Geldpolitik, Note: 2,0, - (staatliche Studienakademie), 29 Quellen
geraten. Die Studienzeiten sind im internationalen Vergleich mit
sechs Jahren uberdurchschnittlich lang (OECD-Durchschnitt: 4,8
Jahre, Frankreich 5,5, Niederlande 3,9 Jahre) und die
Abbrecherquoten mit rund 30 % recht hoch. Zudem nimmt in
