'Micro-scaled Products Development via Microforming' presents state-of-the-art research on microforming processes, and focuses on the development of micro-scaled metallic parts via microforming processes. Microforming refers to the fabrication of microparts via micro-scaled plastic deformation and presents a promising micromanufacturing process. When compared to other micromanufacturing processes, microforming offers advantages such as high productivity and good mechanical properties of the deformed microparts. This book provides extensive and informative illustrations, tables and photos in order to convey this information clearly and directly to readers. Although the knowledge of macroforming processes is abundant and widely used in industry, microparts cannot be developed by leveraging existing knowledge of macroforming because the size effect presents a barrier to this knowledge transfer. Therefore systematic knowledge of microforming needs to be developed. In tandem with product miniaturization, the demand on microparts has been increased for their wide applications in many industries, including automotive, bio-medical, aerospace and consumer electronics industries. Micromanufacturing technologies have thus become more and more important. This book is intended for postgraduates, manufacturing engineers and professionals working in the areas of manufacturing and materials processing.

In the midst of refugee crises, terrorist attacks and territorial disputes across the globe, nationalism remains a powerful force in generating affects of inclusion and exclusion. In Asia, inter-Asian migration, enabled and disrupted by a history of colonialism, capitalist globalization and political conflicts, has rendered the idea of nation as both politically distinct and culturally malleable. Precarious Belongings: Affect and Nationalism in Asia explores the affective politics of Asian nationalism by addressing the entwined structures of precarious belonging and national feelings. Bringing together leading scholars it looks at how the reification of nationalism in social movements, popular sentiments, online groups, and cultural representation directs hatred towards migrant and minority groups across Asia. The book posits that nationalist affects are embedded in the politics of exclusion, and seeks to make room for precarious belongings in the transnational and multicultural present. It should be of interest to students and scholars interested in Asian Cultural Studies, transnationalism, migration and nationalism.

A crash course in marketing for eye care professionals, Grow Your Eye Care Practice: High Impact Pearls from the Marketing Experts guides readers through this crucial area of business development. With an increase in patients undergoing elective procedures and an increase in the amount of providers, marketing has become the most important way for eye care professionals to grow their practices and differentiate themselves from their competition. Since marketing is not addressed in any formal course in medical school, optometry school, residency or fellowship, many eye care professionals lack basic understanding and skills in this area of growing importance to their businesses. To meet this critical need, editor Dr. Ming Wang and associate editors Shareef Mahdavi, Michael Malley and Dr. Tracy Swartz have created this essential, timely handbook aggregating the key ophthalmic marketing pearls, teachings and experiences of some of the leading national and international marketing experts. Grow Your Eye Care Practice begins with an overview of the history and current state of ophthalmic marketing, including a fascinating look at the commoditization of eye care as was demonstrated with the introduction of LASIK. The core chapters address foundational and innovative marketing concepts and their application to eye care, including: Market research, segmentation, targeting and positioning Patient experience Branding versus call to action Word of mouth referrals Digital marketing, including social media, websites and SEO Innovative marketing approaches Ethics and laws governing medical marketing Upcoming disruptive marketing technologies Grow Your Eye Care Practice: High Impact Pearls from the Marketing Experts is an indispensable desktop reference for all eye care professionals--ophthalmologists, optometrists, administrators, practice managers, business associates, residents, fellows, medical students and optometry students - who wish to improve their marketing skills, grow their practices and differentiate themselves from their competition.

This book investigates key security issues in connection with the physical layer for random wireless cellular networks. It first introduces readers to the fundamentals of information theoretic security in the physical layer. By examining recently introduced security techniques for wireless point-to-point communications, the book proposes new solutions to physical layer security based on stochastic geometric frameworks for random cellular networks. It subsequently elaborates on physical-layer security in multi-tier heterogeneous networks. With the new modeled settings, the authors also verify the security performance with the impact of the full-duplex transceivers. The specific model design presented here offers a valuable point of reference for readers in related areas. In addition, the book highlights promising topics and proposes potential future research directions.

As an emerging discrete structural model, the Hencky bar-chain/net model (HBM) has shown its advantages over other numerical methods in some problems. Owing to the discrete properties of HBM, it is also a suitable model for nano-scale structures which are currently a very hot research topic in mechanics. This book introduces the concepts and previous research of the Hencky bar-chain/net model, before demonstrating how beams, columns, arches, rectangular plates and circular plates could be successfully modelled by HBM. HBM comprises rigid bars connected by frictionless hinges with elastic rotational springs (and a system of torsional springs in the cells for plates). In the treatment of the above-mentioned structures, HBM is found to be mathematically equivalent to the first order central finite difference method (FDM). So HBM may be regarded as the physical structural model behind the FDM.This book is a compilation of the authors' research on the development of the Hencky bar-chain/net model, and is organized according to the development and application of HBM for beams, columns, frames, arches and rings, and plates. Exercises are provided at the end of each chapter to aid comprehension and guide learning. It is a useful reference for students, researchers, academics and practitioners in the field of structural analysis.
Corneal topography has become essentially a pattern recognition trade, best learned by viewing multiple images of representative patterns. In spite of this, currently available topography books focus only on the technology behind topography, or a particular application of topography, as opposed to presenting a comprehensive collection of topographic patterns that provide quick, consistent pattern recognition and identification. Drs. Wang and Kugler, along with Drs. Morgan and Boerman, look to fill this void with Atlas and Clinical Reference Guide for Corneal Topography. Atlas and Clinical Reference Guide for Corneal Topography is the first corneal topography book that lends itself to efficient image search and reference for busy clinicians at chair side. Organised into both map-based and disease-based sections, the book allows for quick reference in busy clinical situations. Images come from the commonly used topographers, the Zeiss Atlas and the Oculus Pentacam, but the principles of pattern recognition can be applied to any topographer. Due to the text's large collection of topographic images and corresponding corneal conditions, Atlas and Clinical Reference Guide for Corneal Topography can be used side by side with the topographer. Designed as both a learning tool for students and a reference for clinicians to use when faced with a challenging topography interpretation, Atlas and Clinical Reference Guide for Corneal Topography will be appreciated by a wide spectrum of eye care professionals. General ophthalmologists, cataract and refractive surgeons, corneal specialists, optometrists, and ophthalmology residents and students will benefit from this invaluable atlas for corneal topography.

Normal cranial anatomy as seen by MRI in children aged 1 month to 21 years is comprehensively depicted in this atlas. As such it represents an invaluable tool for establishing normal baseline anatomy of the developing brain when evaluating suspected disease, trauma, or developmental delay in pediatric subjects. There are 124 normal cases presented, 62 each of boys and girls, at intervals from ages one month to 21 years. Six axial images are presented for each case. The images were obtained from Siemens, GE, and HI Standard machines. A brief introduction covers key issues in the development of white matter and special topics in pediatric neuroimaging. |
