One of the promising approaches to enhance salt tolerance in crop plants is the proper use of plant growth regulators. The presented work is an effort to investigate the ameliorative role of 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) in oilseed rape plants grown under salinity conditions. Chapter 1 of this monograph is a brief introduction about oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.), salinity associated problems and strategies to tackle salinity as well as study's objectives. Chapter 2 highlights the previous studies and achievements regarding the salinity stress and its interference with the different physiological aspects of plants particularly Brassica species as well as ameliorating role of 5-aminolevulinic acid to combat stress conditions. Chapters 3 focus on how 5-aminolevulinic acid ameliorates salinity induced metabolic, water related and biochemical changes. Chapter 4 describes the role of 5-aminolevulinic acid regarding photosynthetic gas exchange capacity and ion uptake under salinity stress. Chapter 5 highlights the ultra-structural modifications induced by salinity and 5-aminolevulinic acid in oilseed rape plants. Chapter 6&7 presents our major findings and references.

This study aims to explore how children and teen- agers (i.e. learners) interact and create a use for information and communication technology in the classroom during their lectures. The study is based on distributed cognition theory in order to describe a cognitive system which involves interactions among humans, artifacts and the environment. The Distributed Cognition Approach is a widely acknowledged approach, but it is less commonly applied in order to observe learner's (such as children and teen-agers) interaction with information and communication technologies in their learning setting. Therefore this study aims to explore the children and teen-agers interaction with the information and communication technology active boards by using distributed cognition theory which can be expressed as important and interesting for the researchers, designers and developers in evaluating, designing and developing effective interactive technologies that supports better education.

In recent years manufacturing enterprises are increasingly automated and collect and store large quantities of data relating to their products and production systems. This electronically stored data can hold both process measures and hidden information, which can be very important when discovered. Knowledge discovery in databases provides the tools to explore historic or current data to reveal many kinds of previously unknown knowledge from these databases. Manufacturing enterprises data is complex and may include information relating to design, process improvement and limitations, manufacturing machines and tools, and product quality. This book focuses on issues relating to information extraction from engineering databases in general and from manufacturing processes in particular using their historical databases. It also addresses the important issue of how the process or the design of the product can be improved based on such information.

The book encloses the elements concerning the research project entitled "Effect of Various Protein Sources on the Quality of Cereal Based Baby Foods." The project was intended to overcome the problem of malnutrition in infants by using locally available protein rich food stuff. Four different baby foods were prepared by using cereals, pulses, oil seeds, potato and banana. The prepared baby foods were rich in protein and other vital nutrients which are necessary for the growth and development during the stage of infancy. The book also portrays the importance of home made baby foods as they are natural and in reach of every class. The book as well gives the general idea about the work of other researchers in preparing protein rich baby foods for infants.

A study was planned to know the effect of various levels of palm kernel meal (PKM) on broilers. 360 day old Hubbard broiler chicks were used in study. They were divided randomly into twelve groups of thirty birds each. Four experimental diets containing 22% CP and 3000 Kcals/kg ME at starter phase and 20% CP and 3000 Kcals/kg ME at finisher phase, were prepared. Corn and soybean meal were gradually replaced with PKM. Each diet was allotted to three experiment units at random. Experiment was conducted for a period of 35 days (21 days for starter and 14 days for finisher phase). Records of weekly body weight and feed consumption were maintained. At the end of experiment, total weight gain, feed consumption, dressing percentage and organ weights were calculated. The highest body weight gain was recorded in bird fed on diet B which contained 5% PKM. Average feed consumption of diet A was less than other diets. The highest FCR was noted from the birds fed on diet D (containing 15% PKM) while the lowest FCR was noted from the birds fed on diet A (containing 5% PKM). Average dressing percentage of chicks were 65.03, 63.80, 66.01 and 67.12.
