The series Religion and Society (RS) contributes to the exploration of religions as social systems- both in Western and non-Western societies; in particular, it examines religions in their differentiation from, and intersection with, other cultural systems, such as art, economy, law and politics. Due attention is given to paradigmatic case or comparative studies that exhibit a clear theoretical orientation with the empirical and historical data of religion and such aspects of religion as ritual, the religious imagination, constructions of tradition, iconography, or media. In addition, the formation of religious communities, their construction of identity, and their relation to society and the wider public are key issues of this series.

Induction cooking is not a radically new invention; it has been widely used all around the world. With recent improvements in technology and the consequent reduction of component costs, Induction cooking equipment is now more affordable than ever. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the efficiency of energy transfer for an induction hob is 84%, versus 38% for Gas stove and 68% for a smooth-top non-induction electrical unit, for an approximate 16% saving in energy for the same amount of heat transfer. This study reveals the thermal analysis and efficiency of an induction cooktop with the detailed calculations and analysis of each component through mathematical and experimental models. To calculate the efficiency of the induction cooktop, a standard experiment has been performed. A Matlab model has been developed to calculate different parameters for heat sink. Extensive studies on calculation of heat loss in copper coil for different dimensions of pancake coils lead us to calculate the efficiency theoretically, however, this study is still under research and development phase.

Heat stress is one of the major problems of tropical and subtropical areas of the world, adversely affecting the production performance of poultry. Heat stress suppresses broilers immunity against disease, body weight gain and increases mortality rate in the flock. The avian gastrointestinal tract is populated by a diverse and dynamic microbiota, generally considered important for host nutrition and immunity. About 300 to 500 bacterial species reside broilers gut. The key functions of the gut microbiota in host health and well-being includes nutrients digestion and absorption, and significant up-regulation of innate and acquired immunity.There are quite a few studies depicting effect of heat stress on gut microbiota. Perturbations in the GIT micobial composition that occur as a result of stress can be settled by prebiotics or probiotics supplementations. These two supplements are also known for promoting growth performance and immunity of broilers. However, use of these supplements in broilers reared under tropical environment has not been examined. Therefore, we planned this project to examine effects of heat stress and pre/probiotics on broilers health and performance

This book is a small effort to address the most common medical issue which we come across in our everyday living i.e. back pain. While writing about this topic our main aim was to address those community members (doctors) who deal it most frequently and are the most common victim to it. Sadly enough, they are equally disabled by this condition. The book contains a thorough review of the problem including the basic anatomy of back, risk factors for developing back pain, causative agents, various treatment options, quick tips to relieve the symptoms, and a comprehensive home plan including the patient education.Literature has supported various interventions and their efficacy in the treatment of back pain. Although we have tried to cover all these intervention our main aim was to introduce the medical community to a safe working environment emphasizing the need to maintain a good posture; a pre requisite to every treatment plan.I hope that my efforts go well with the medical community and help create awareness regarding their back as they are the back bone of society. This will equally be implacable and beneficial to the patients visiting them as well as the community in general.

The study focuses on introducing Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) in distance education for effective English language teaching programmes in Pakistan. The researcher designed and executed a CMC-ELT Blended Model for the students enrolled in MA TEFL Programme offered by Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad, Pakistan. The researcher tried to find out the effectiveness of CMC in terms of students' learning, interaction, access and cost. The students were provided online support in their studies. Data was collected through AIOU documents, questionnaires, tests, and focused group discussions. The results of the study proved the effectiveness of CMC in distance education.

In densely populated urban areas wireless communication is predominantly line-of-sight(LOS). To cater for high data rates, high frequency bands are likely to be used. At such frequency bandswhen skin depth of vegetation becomes small as compared to its actual thickness, effects of vegetation on radiowave propagation cannot be neglected.This report explores the effect of vegetation on signal attenuation. A statistical approach is used to model the effective attenuation caused by randomly scattered trees in the area. Theses effects are incorporated with other known effects to present a simple and efficient path loss model for urban microcells.

This book deals with quantification of bacterial pathogens from three landfills in Malaysia. The emphasis was to validate whether leachate contains pathogens against the common notion related to non-pathogenic potential of leachate. The use of chlorine was looked upon as a means of inactivation of bacterial pathogens and the effect of chlorine dosage, and contact time was studied on the inactivation pattern and formation of chlorination by products.

This book describes the biochemical and molecular characterization of RALSTONIA SOLANACEARUM associated with chilli seeds from Pakistan. This bacterium is a genetically complex organism and it has been subdivided into 5 races and 6 biovars according to host range and its utilization of different of sugars. During moon soon in Pakistan, high moisture and light intensity favor the bacterial wilt disease. The present studies were carried out to explore the chilli seeds as a potential source of aggravating this problem in the country. The isolation and initial characterization of bacterium was done on TTC and 523 media. Out of all the isolates tested, 72% showed positive hypersensitive reaction (HR) with variable response. Among these all were not confirmed to be RALSTONIA SOLANACEARUM through biochemical, pathogenicity and ELISA tests. Only 40% of these HR
