This book is the valuable Key to A New Arabic Grammar, the bestselling introduction to the Arabic language for over thirty years. Although A New Arabic Grammar is intended primarily as a teaching grammar not as a 'teach yourself' work, it has become clear that it is being used as a means of learning Arabic by many who have no teacher, and it is principally for their benefit that this key has been prepared. The Key contains translations of the English and Arabic exercises, and of the supplementary reading pieces in Arabic. Several generations of students have found the Key a most useful tool for their studies.

Use of isotopically labelled nitrogen in experimentation, especially in tropical environments, and recently developed analytical techniques for soil and plant materials are presented. An important aspect is the emphasis placed on the impact of the tropical environment on nitrogen transformations in the soil environment. This book should be an excellent source of information for senior undergraduate and graduate students with interest in soil/plant nitrogen inter-relationships, and for all levels of research workers in these fields.

A New Arabic Grammar of the Written Language (Paperback, Rev. 2nd Ed): H.M. Nahmad, John A. Haywood A New Arabic Grammar of the Written Language (Paperback, Rev. 2nd Ed)
H.M. Nahmad, John A. Haywood
R1,026 Discovery Miles 10 260 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This is a revised second edition of A New Arabic Grammar of the Written Language first published in 1962. It is based on and replaces Thatcher's Arabic Grammar and has a vocabulary of over 4,000 words, almost twice as many as in the old Thatcher, while the number of chapters has been increased from forty-nine to fifty-two. The Supplement contains a number of new features. Apart from selections from the Qur'an, fables, stories, newspaper extracts, advertisements and letters, additional material in the form of extracts from classical and modern Arabic writings and proverbs is included. Appendix A provides a useful introduction to the main colloquial Arabic dialects, Appendix B, a useful reading guide, and Appendix C, further grammatical information not supplied in the first edition. This book will serve as a basis for a further and deeper study of the classical language and literature and at the same time form a good foundation for those who wish to concentrate on the modern written language of literature and the daily press. The authors have been careful to indicate which usages are current in modern Arabic, and which are antique or antiquated. The vocabulary also is both classical and modern. This is above all a practical grammar, not an advanced reference grammar like Wright's. It is meant for the beginner who is not familiar with the peculiarities of Semitic languages. Nevertheless it is comprehensive enough, the authors believe, for most students' needs in the first two or three years of their study.

On an autumn day in 2004, artist Olwen Ballantyne had an incredible experience as she worked on her first painting of an angel - the air around her became alive with angelic presence. The first message and the angelic image were given to her from the heart of this vibrancy, and since then, Olwen has painted several hundred angels. Some of her most beautiful paintings and their accompanying messages are reproduced in this magnificent book, which she has co-authored with her friend and renowned angels expert Claire Nahmad. Together Olwen and Claire have produced a captivating book in which lyrical words and breathtaking illustrations combine to open our channels and allow us to commune with the angels, as we break free from the mundane sphere of the material world. Through a delightful collection of meditations, blessings, affirmations, poems and exercises, the authors transport us to the celestial realms where we can be lifted on the wings of our loving angel friends, as we connect and enter deeper into communion with them, according to our own unique vision and soul purpose.
In this uplifting celebration, we learn that angels are here to light up the universe with their essence of love, peace and joy.

Each volume includes: an introduction to the key area; consideration of the development of children in the key area from birth to 3 years, 3 to 5 years, and into 5 to 7 years; consideration of the holistic development of the child and the impact of that development on the key area being discussed; research evidence to support practice; practical examples of good practice; discussions on leadership in the key area; and, support in the development of pedagogical skills and reflective professional practice. In line with the aims of the EYFS, this series will help you in meeting the challenges that come with supporting the different needs of children, working in multi-professional partnerships, balancing the different areas of development, and supporting transitions within and beyond the EYFS.

This is a complete guide to supporting physical development in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), promoting a holistic approach and drawing on examples of good practice. "Physical Development" introduces this area of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to trainee and qualified early years professionals. The physical development of children aged between 0-5 years is introduced within the context of the EYFS. A balanced approach to the Early Learning Goals is encouraged ensuring that key principles of good early years practice are maintained and developed, and the holistic development of the child is promoted. This user-friendly guide will support early years professionals to: reflect on current practice and develop skills; evaluate the implications of research for early years practice and provision; promote interdisciplinary teamwork between those who work with and support young children; meet the diverse needs of children at different developmental stages and ages; and support children as they move within and beyond the EYFS. This series introduces each of the six areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS): Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Language, Literacy and Communication; Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy; Knowledge and Understanding of the World; Creative Development; and Physical Development. Each book delivers accessible yet rigorous support for practitioners, whether training or qualified, in developing their professional understanding and practice in each of these Early Learning Goals. Vertisols, one of the eleven established soil orders, are clay soils with unusual and interesting properties. They cover more than 350 million hectares of land in the world and in tropical Africa alone there are over 100 million hectares. Because of their very small particle size and high surface area, these soils have higher physical and chemical reactivity than other soils. Their interaction with agrochemicals/industrial wastes, has been, increasingly, the subject of research especially in the last two decades. Vertisols create special problems when used for engineering purposes.

This book is intended to provide comprehensive and state-of-the-art information about Vertisols worldwide. Special attention is given to the use and management of soils such as fertilizer use, crop selection, soil tillage, water restriction on land including irrigation, and soil erosion. A special chapter has been added to deal with geotechnical engineering of Vertisols.

Vertisols have great potential for agricultural production but many, especially in the developing world, are underutilized due to a lack of understanding regarding their behaviour and management.

This book is written by leading scientists worldwide. It is expected that this monograph will be of great use to soil scientists and agronomists, graduate and senior graduate students.

Improvement of their management may solve the current food deficiency in the world.
