Unimolecular reactions are in principle the simplest chemical
reactions, because they only involve one molecule. The basic
mechanism, in which the competition between the chemical reaction
step and a collisional deactivation leads to a pressure-dependent
coefficient, has been understood for a long time. However, this is
a rapidly developing field, and many new and important discoveries
have been made in the past decade.
This First Part Part of Two CCK Volumes dealing with Unimolecular
Rections, deals with the Reaction Step. The first chapter is an
introduction to the whole project, aiming to cover the material
necessary to understand the content of the detailed chapters, as
well as the history of the development of the area. Chapter 2 is a
review of the modern view of the statistical theories, as embodied
in the various forms of RRKM theory. Chapter 3 deals with the fully
quantum mechanical view of reactive states as resonances.
. Presents considerable advances in the field made during the last
decade.
. Treats both the statistical as well as the fully quantum
mechanical view.
This reference work examines the procedure and practice relating to
commercial agreements and trade association practices under UK and
EC competition laws. It first covers procedure in both the UK and
EC, and then provides a detailed comparative analysis of all the
major types of commercial agreements and trade association
practices in both UK and EC law. Since much of competition law is,
in practice, administered by administrative rather than judicial
bodies, full treatment is given to the informal administrative
solutions applied by the authorities. However, as an increasing
amount of competition law is subject to litigation, there is also
in-depth analysis of all the major cases. There is also a full
discussion of the EC block exemptions and recent developments in UK
competition law.
This highly practical guide is ideal for any medical professional
who deals with the aerospace environment or is involved in the
healthcare of aircrew or individuals preparing for or returning
from aerospace travel. The book covers all the main aspects of
aerospace medicine, including the salient physiology and clinical
aspects in note form for rapid assimilation, and makes plentiful
use of figures, algorithms and tables throughout. Key Features: *
Comprehensive covering all aspects of clinical aerospace medicine
and relevant physiology * Note-based for rapid reference in the
clinical setting * Highly practical with illustrations and tables
supporting the text throughout * From a highly experienced
international team of editors and contributors * Ideal as a
handbook companion, complementing the definitive reference
Ernsting's Aviation and Space Medicine, for use 'on the go' The
book will be an indispensable companion to all civil and military
aviation medicine practitioners including those preparing for
professional qualifying examinations, and a useful aid for other
physicians with an interest in aviation medicine or who are
required to inform patients regularly regarding the likely effects
of flight, including family practitioners and hospital doctors,
physiologists with an interest in the area and occupational and
public health personnel.
The Competition Act 1998 makes fundamental changes to United
Kingdom competition law, introducing two new prohibitions based on
European Community rules. In September 1998, the Centre for the Law
of the European Union at University College London hosted a
conference, chaired by Judge David Edward of the European Court of
Justice, to discuss the Europeanisation of United Kingdom
competition law. This book brings together the papers delivered at
the conference, together with additional papers exploring the
effect of the Competition Act. The papers will be of interest to
all practitioners, officials and academics working in the are of
competition law. Contributors: Judge Christopher Bellamy (Court of
First Instance of the European Communities), Mrs Margaret Bloom,
(Director of Competition Policy, The Office of Fair Trading),
Nicholas Green QC (Brick Court Chambers), Donald A. Hay (Jesus
College, Oxford and the Institute of Economics and Statistics,
Oxford), Professor Valentine Korah (University College, London),
Aidan Robertson (Brick Court Chambers), John Swift QC (Monckton
Chambers).

The essays in this wide-ranging, beautifully illustrated volume
capture the theoretical range and scholarly rigor of recent
criticism that has fundamentally transformed the study of French
Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. Readers are invited to
consider the profound issues and penetrating questions that lie
beneath this perennially popular body of work as the contributors
examine the art world of late nineteenth-century France - including
detailed looks at Monet, Manet, Pissarro, Degas, Cezanne, Morisot,
Seurat, Van Gogh, and Gauguin. The authors offer fascinating new
perspectives, placing the artworks from this period in wider social
and historical contexts. They explore these painters' pictorial and
market strategies, the critical reception and modern criteria the
paintings engendered, and the movement's historic role in the
formation of an avant-garde tradition. Their research reflects the
wealth of new documents, critical approaches, and scholarly
exhibitions that have fundamentally altered our understanding of
Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. These essays, several of
which have previously been familiar only to scholars, provide
instructive models of in-depth critical analysis and of the
competing art historical methods that have crucially reshaped the
field. Contributors of this title include: Carol Armstrong, T. J.
Clark, Stephen F. Eisenman, Tamar Garb, Nicholas Green, Robert L.
Herbert, John House, Mary Tompkins Lewis, Michel Melot, Linda
Nochlin, Richard Shiff, Debora Silverman, Paul Tucker, and Martha
Ward.
