When I speak for Ghana, I speak for Africa. Corruption is endemic
in African politics because of a colonial mentality. Only when
these inherited attitudes are overturned will Ghana quit running in
circles and move into her future. The neo-colonialists must be
voted out, for all they care about is their own stomachs. In this
book you'll find coverage of political and social subjects that
make this sad fact very clear. Ghana is ready for leaders who
identify with the people and envision progressive ideas that move
us into the continent's glorious future. We look in these pages at
that future and the kind of leader Ghana needs. We look to the year
2020 and our goal of self-reliance. When we Ghanaians go to the
polls in 2008, we can oust the old leaders and bring into office
younger candidates with fresh ideas. Then we will move into
developing our treasures, and the day will not be long off when
Ghana will no longer require financial assistance from other parts
of the world.
Most words used in the English language today were borrowed (taken)
from other languages. Many English words are made up of a root (or
base word) and a prefix. Some words also have a suffix. This book
ofers basic understanding of word formation and extensive
vocabulary, especially for students preparing for standardized
tests including SAT, GRE, GMAT and End of Grade exams. At the end
of each chapter you will find various worksheets to help you
practice and master your vocabulary.
'Ghana: Conversation & Development' is a book about the cry,
frustrations, and aspirations of the good people of Ghana. It
nourishes, refreshes and equips the political and economic mindsets
of the Ghanaian people and attempts to serve as a channel of
communication to the new President and his administration after
December 2008 General Elections. Many issues have been discussed
including social, political and economic issues. This book
critically analyses how Ghana, our motherland would be able to meet
her millennium objectives at the shortest possible time. Road
accidents in the country seem to spiral out of control, it is very
pathetic how hundreds of Ghanaians lost their love ones because of
road accidents especially during Easter and Christmas seasons. Time
is now due to stop people even policy makers taken advantage of
funerals just to show off their wealth. This little book also
provides solid recommendations on how this 'canker', which is
slowly, but far eating into our fabrics will be solved once and for
all. Can Ghana achieve any meaningful economic growth without the
contributions of our well-cherished traditional rulers? Can the
Ghana oil of commercial quantity find at the Cape Three Points in
the Western Region be a blessing or a curse? The book* is not just
a must read, it is entirely pleasurable and the commentaries are
well written. It contains great human insight interwoven into the
twists and turns of the dreams of the loving people of Ghana. I
deemed this necessary believing that the new President and his
administration, our traditional rulers, policy makers, schools,
colleges and students in higher academic learning would make
optimum use of it. Read the materials thoroughly, think carefully,
dig deeper, make the necessary sacrifices, adopt some wisdom and
make yourself and Ghana very proud. PK OPOKU BONNA, LLB.

More than 1.2 million people die in road traffic crashes every year
As many as 50 million people are injured or disabled by road
traffic crashes every year Road traffic crashes cost countries up
to 4% of their Gross National Product Correctly used seat-belts
reduce the risk of death in a crash by 61% Mandatory use of child
restraints can reduce child deaths by 35% Helmets reduce fatal and
serious head injuries by up to 45% Enforcing a drinking and driving
law around the world could reduce alcohol-related crashes by 20%
(WHO, 2005). According to the World Health Organization (WHO),
Africa has the world's highest rate of road fatalities per capita.
For example, the statistics indicate that 2,043 people perished in
road accidents in 2007 in Ghana alone compared to 1,858 people who
died in 2006. Many factors contribute to road accidents in Africa.
The notable ones include bribery and corruption. "While the focus
of this book is Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa, for obvious
reasons, nonetheless, Stopping the Carnage on African Roads is
unmistakably germane to the totality of the dismal traffic
situation in Africa at large. In this sense, the expansive title of
the book is all the more appropriate. In sum, on the critical
subject of preventable road carnage in Africa, Mr. Bonna is one,
among a dispiritingly low number of writers and intellectuals, who
knows exactly what he is talking about. In essence, the author's
argument revolves around the salutary, commonsensical and
imperative need for postcolonial African governments to ensure that
the auspicious facility of vehicular transportation is safely and
productively engaged. The latter observation, of course, implies
the stringent andimpartial enforcement of transit laws and
penalties." (Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., Ph.D., Bronx, New York).

a Union of some fivety states and territories. Each state posseses
a unique place in the history of the federation . Full Faith and
Credit is given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and

this great nation. This book will provide you a precise but indepth

Football or soccer is more than a sport in Africa, Europe and Asia.
The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) began
the World Cup championship tournament in 1930 with a 13-team field
in Uruguay. Ghana made a debut in the 2006 FIFA World Cup
qualifiers but they were narrowly knocked out by Brazil. Ghana's
historic journey to the 2006 FIFA World CupT finals begun with a
comfortable victory over Czechoslovakia, and the United States.
Although Ghana did not win the tournament, it is believed that it
was the best continental campaign for Africa since Cameroon in
2002. In the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations Ghana finished with a
bonze. The Black Stars were runners-up at the 1992 Nations Cup held
in Senegal, not to mention Ghana's feat as four-time winners. It
must be reiterated that the Ghana national football team, Black
Stars have won the African Cup of Nations four times (1963, 1965,
1978, and 1982), making Ghana the second most successful team in
the contest's history, after Egypt. Although Ghana only won a
bronze in the 2008 Cup of Nations tournament, by all counts Ghana
was rated as the best team currently in Africa, having earned their
best FIFA ranking rating ever as the 14th best IFA rankings
(previous position in brackets): 1. (1.) Argentina 2. (2.) Brazil
3. (3.) Italy 4. (4.) Spain 5. (5.) Germany 6. (6.) Czech Republic
7. (7.) France 8. (8.) Portugal 9. (9.) Netherlands 10. (11.)
Greece 11. (12.) England 12. (10.) Croatia 13. (13) Romania 14.
(43.) Ghana 14. (14.) Scotland Ghana, the Rediscovered Soccer
Might. Watch Out World does not only contain the history and
performance of the Ghana team but also all the major teams Ghana
has ever played against including the2006 FIFA World CupT
tournament. In these pages you will also find a brief history of
FIFA World CupT tournaments and more on the legendary Brazilian
national team.
