In this Hobart Paper, the authors -- transport economics Oliver Knipping and Richard Wellings -- propose the privatisation of the UK road network. In doing so, they examine the traditional objections to privatisation and find them wanting. in lively discussion, making good use of practical examples, the authors also look at related issues such as road taxation, the planning system, pricing, regulation and the management of congestion. Whilst the authors admit that there are valid objections to road privatisation -- and straightforward privatisation may not suit all types of roads -- there are many imaginative schemes outlined that could deal with those objections. The authors also show that the nationalisation of roads has not been a success. This study is essential reading for policy-makers, academics and students in the field of transport and logistics.

The debate on rail privatisation often seems to focus on very narrow issues. Those on both sides of the argument seem to be able to employ a mass of statistics to prove their point. Das Wort Mystik bezeichnet also die unmittelbare Gotteserfahrung und im hochsten Sinne ein Leben aus solcher Gotteserfahrung. Echte mystische Erfahrung erfasst Gott als den einen Geist und als letzte Wirklichkeit; sie ist also auch metaphysische Erfahrung. Die Moglichkeit mystischer Erfahrung ist somit in jeder monotheistischen Religion gegeben, aber auch in denen, die uber eine Vielzahl von Gottern hinweg den einen Geist oder den Dreieinigen bekennen. Ein Leben aus der Erfahrung des einen Geistes bedeutet eine Vergeistigung des Materiellen, eine Umwandlung, die im Reich der Natur nicht ihresgleichen hat. Umwandlung bedarf einer Kraft und der Sichwandelnde eines Vorbildes. Die seelische Kraft der Umwandlung ist die Liebe; das allein zur Umwandlung verhelfende Vorbild ist Gott der Geist, der Mensch wurde. Das Christentum allein hat beides: den Gott, der zum Menschen wurde, und seine umwandelnde Kraft, die Liebe, die den Menschen zu Gott, in ein vergottetes" Leben erhebt. Christliche Mystik ist somit die vollkommene Mystik. Die Moglichkeit eines mystischen Lebens bis zur Vollkommenheit ist zu jeder Zeit und in jedem Lande innerhalb des Christentums gegeben, die neue Geburt, die Gottwerdung des Menschen mit der Menschwerdung Gottes. Christliche Mystik, bestimmt durch die nachahmende, umwandelnde, gotteigene Kraft der Liebe ist wesentlich Liebesmystik. Im Gegensatz zu ihr steht eine Erkenntnismystik, deren Gotterfahrung vereinzelt und nicht umwandelnd ist und uberwiegend das Erkenntnisvermogen beruhrt, Geis

Die Santeria ist eine synkretistische Religion, sprich: ein eigenwilliges Mischprodukt aus afrikanischen Gottheiten und Kulten, die mit den Sklavenschiffen ins Land kamen, und der katholischen Religion, die die spanischen Kolonialherren auf der Insel implantierten - und beides vermengt und weiter entwickelt zu einer neuen, spezifischen kubanischen Religion, deren hervorstechendstes Merkmal vielleicht ihre Toleranz ist.
