P. Doherty, P. Moore, H.J.P. Arnold
R2,304 Discovery Miles 23 040 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

The Photographic Atlas of the Stars contains 50, high-quality full color photographs of the entire night sky of the northern and southern hemispheres. Each plate is accompanied by a star map of the identical area, which identifies the main stars of the constituent constellations as well as other interesting astronomical objects. In addition to this detail, Sir Patrick Moore has written a commentary for each plate that highlights the stars and objects of interest to observers equipped with binoculars and that includes detailed tabular information on astronomical objects of the region. The resulting double-page spread provides an invaluable reference for the amateur astronomer, detailing the constellations and other heavenly bodies of interest that are observable with the naked eye, binoculars, or a small telescope.

Handbook of Botulinum Toxin Treatment 2e (Hardcover, 2nd Edition): P. Moore Handbook of Botulinum Toxin Treatment 2e (Hardcover, 2nd Edition)
P. Moore
R5,512 Discovery Miles 55 120 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Botulinum toxin A is a remarkably versatile treatment with a steadily expanding list of indications, which include strabismus, hemifacial spasm, focal dystonias such as spasmodic torticollis, dysphonia and writer's cramp, as well as adult and childhood spasticity. Recent innovations include its use in some types of pain, in autonomic and gastrointestinal disorders, and in cosmetic medicine, such as hyperhidrosis, hypersalivation, rectal fissure, achalasia and facial wrinkles. Botulinum toxin is arguably the safest and most effective treatment in movement disorders since the introduction of levodopa, and is an increasingly important option in many other fields.

The long-awaited second edition of the Handbook of Botulinum Toxin Treatment brings the reader up to date with the many advances in background knowledge and in clinical practice in both the established and the newer indications, including the use of a second serotype botulinum toxin B.

The book is an introduction and practical guide for doctors and paramedical staff who use botulinum toxin or who may want to refer patients or care for patients being treated elsewhere. Initial chapters provide historical and general information. The rest of the book concentrates on the different conditions treated with botulinum toxin. Chapters follow a standard format with a pragmatic approach based on the wide experience of the authors.

Setting-Up a Small Observatory: From Concept to Construction (Paperback, 2008 ed.): P. Moore Setting-Up a Small Observatory: From Concept to Construction (Paperback, 2008 ed.)
P. Moore; David Arditti
R1,171 R960 Discovery Miles 9 600 Save R211 (18%) Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Arditti's approachable work covers the all the details of design, siting and construction - once a basic type has been decided upon. It is written in a way that is equally applicable to the USA and UK (where there are slightly different building regulations) and deals with matters that are basic to building and commissioning any amateur observatory. Uniquely, David Arditti also considers the aesthetics of amateur observatories - fitting them in with family and neighbors, and maybe disguising them as more common garden buildings if necessary. Every amateur astronomer who wants a purpose-built observatory (and let's face it, which one of them doesn't?) will find this book invaluable.

The U.S. travel and tourism sector, the main economic and employment engine in a number of states, suffered a steep decline in 2008 and 2009 as the nation sank into recession. Though the United States remained the world's top travel destination by dollar value, spending by foreign visitors in the country plunged 15% in 2009. Travel and tourism, which account for 6% of U.S. employment, began to rebound in 2010, but there have been concerns about a possible decline in business along the Gulf Coast due to the April 2010 BP oil spill. This new book examines the U.S. travel and tourism industry today and the challenges and issues for the future
