When four old friends, Ricky, John, Sears and Edward (Astaire, Douglas, Houseman and Fairbanks Jr), decide to get together once a week to reminisce about times in their youth - calling themselves the Chowder Society - they end up competing with each other over who can tell the most gruesome ghost stories. However, after one member of the society suddenly dies, the three survivors begin to wonder if there could be more behind his death. Could they really be the victims of a real-life ghost story?
