Change partners! May has come to dance; her boyfriend is away and she needs the company. Joe's been doing this a while; recently divorced, he's taking May through the steps. As they swing around the dancefloor they meet a plethora of characters including their passive aggressive dance instructors, the older man, George, and Sally whom he has the eye for, Imelda who's only recently moved to the city, Justin the flamboyant young gay guy who's full of energy and rhythm, Noelia from Spain, Regina from Northern Ireland, and Sean from the country who counts on counting the steps. An international hit from New York, Paris and Edinburgh, Swing is a comedy about dancing and music and love and not settling and feeling like an eejit and being brave and having doubts and trying your best and trying new things and thinking outside the box and seeing things clearly and living as well as you can and giving it a lash. With rock and roll music. It'll make you want to dance. Swing was first produced by Fishamble in 2013; the production won the Bewley's Little Gem Award at the Dublin Fringe Festival, 2013. This programme text edition was published to coincide with the revival and international tour by Fishamble in spring, 2016.

Principal Leadership (Paperback): Singh Prakash, Manser Peter, Dali Chris Principal Leadership (Paperback)

Effective principalship is at the forefront of every school's success within the global educational community. In our ever changing 21st Century environment, schools require the support and dedication of all their members of staff in order to evolve as institutions of educational excellence. This book therefore highlights the need for principals to develop and consequently demonstrate emotionally intelligent behaviours in order to create an environment where teachers are satisfied at work, energised in their roles and accountable for their areas of responsibility. The need for principals as school leaders to reach beyond their cognitive domain and nurture an emotionally intelligent environment at school is methodically explored in this book. The role of emotional competencies and divergent thinking takes principals and their teams out of traditional, bureaucratic shackles and places them into a world of creative, collegial freedom. Hence, the innovative strategies presented in this book create opportunities for principals and teachers to experiment in an educationally holistic manner to acquire this emancipation.

The European Emblem - Towards an Index Emblematicus (Paperback): Peter Daly The European Emblem - Towards an Index Emblematicus (Paperback)

Emblems--pictorial designs with accompanying mottoes and epigrams-- helped to shape virtually every form of verbal and visual communication in the West during the sixteenth and seventh centuries. A recent re-awakening of scholarly interest in the emblem has brought to light the difficulty of locating and consulting the unorganized mass of available material. Recognizing the need for a large-scale systematic index to the emblem, the editor organized a symposium at McGill University to discuss the possibilities of preparing such an index. The resulting papers by six symposium participants-- Barbara Becker-Cantarino, Peter M. Daly, Peter Erb, G. Richard Dimler, Lorelei Robins, and Alan Young--contribute to our knowledge of the emblems of Peacham and Corrozet, the Dutch love emblems, the Jesuit emblem, and emblems used in books of mediation. The essays also discuss the problems and procedures involved in preparing an "Index Emblematicus," a work which would serve scholars working in the fields of literature, art, culture, religion, history, and the languages. The volume is richly illustrated with over forty emblem reproductions.
