Biblical theology is confronted with tensions between love and
justice. There are sometimes attempts to avoid these tensions by
dissolving one side of the opposing concept. One such attempt is to
identify love and mercy as the essence of Christian theology,
overcoming law and reciprocal justice. However, such a dissolution
is irresponsible not only ethically, but also theologically-as the
discussion in a number of the studies collected in the present
volume will demonstrate.

Rock music--powerful, sensual, loud, and full of energy. It has changed the face of modern music. But what is its appeal and its significance within contemporary society, and what cultural values does it reflect? Peter Wicke addresses these issues and offers a stimulating and insightful study of rock music tracing the genesis and influence of this diverse aspect of popular music. Beginning with the advent of rock and roll, Wicke chronicles the development through Elvis Presley, and the Beatles to the current music industry, its performers, and the impact of the music video. The book will be of interest to students of music history, popular culture, and media studies.
This semi-autobiography is about the life and times of the author
and the other children of the coal yard of this book that covers
World War 2 from 1939/45. The war years were a devastating time for
the British nation and in particular for the children of those
times who suffered great hardships in multiple ways. Many of the
words seen in this book stem from that period in time and grannies
and grandads will be needed to explain to the younger generation
the meaning of words such as "doodlebug" and "Spanish liquorice
wood". My generation will also be taken down memory lane when
reading the tales told within the covers of this book. Plus the
book is illustrated with some brilliant drawings by a talented
artist.
