That Proof of God Thingy is the third sci-fi adventure novel in the
Dr. Kenneth Messenger parallel universe series. Did God create man
or did man create God? And, if it is scientifically proven that God
does not exist, could this alter basic human behavior for the
better or for the worse? Howes has interwoven religions conflicts,
multi-culturism, creation, holy wars, intelligent design and
mathematical proof of the non-existence of God . The reader is
taken on a journey visiting today's top religious scholars and into
the realm of pure speculation and scientific efforts questioning
the verification of the existence of God. It also deals with the
age old battle between varying religions and cultures. It ventures
into folklore about meteors, comets and signs from God and the Dead
Sea Scrolls looking for clues and an answer to "The Believer's
Question." It considers the beliefs of the major world religions,
i.e., Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism etc., and even
Scientology. It delves deep and promises to give the reader the
definitive answer to The Believer's Question, "Can it be
scientifically proven that God exists?." What is the answer?
Alzheimer's Disease: Forget Antioxidants & Supplements is a
book presenting the scientific facts regarding the failure of these
agents to prevent or reverse this disease. As our life spans
increase, Alzheimer's disease (AD) is fast becoming a terrifying
scourge for mankind, as it robs its victims of their memories and
families of their finances. There are about 28 drugs in development
for treating Alzheimer's but there are no promises of a pending
success at hand. Painfully, I watched my dear mother succumb to
this dreaded disease and hope that my in depth research into oxygen
metabolism will offer opportunity for future research
breakthroughs. Supplement manufacturers frequently mislead
consumers with high-pressure advertisements, designed to create a
feeling of guilt when family members do not resort to the use of
one of their so called "memory miracle" pills. Overall,
antioxidants and supplements have been disappointments and
failures. Even though none of the current AD drugs have proved
effective over the long haul, they are prescribed to 25% of those
diagnosed with AD. The cost of care for AD patients is predicted to
"break the Medicare bank." Vaccines have also been failures. To be
perfectly candid, we do know what causes AD and do not know how to
prevent or treat it. That is the truth but research still offers
hope. We must fight to have increased funding for Alzheimer's
research. In the interim, we must require and demand respectful and
qualified care for all Alzheimer's patients. About 5.3 million
(figures vary) Americans currently have AD and a new case is
diagnosed every 70 seconds. The word "victim" seems overused in
today's media but it is truly appropriate for those suffering from
the tragedy called Alzheimer's disease (AD). We can and we must do
better. Read my book for clues to the future of AD.
Tulane Voodoo is the seventh novel in the series. The Sci-Fi
Adventures of Dr. Kenneth Messenger: The Parallel Universe Series
New Orleans is saturated with Creole folklore and Cajun legends,
many of which are steeped with voodoo, hexes and spells. Rumors are
that a Tulane pathologist is schooled in Haitian voodoo. Dr.
Kenneth Messenger opens a Bourbon Street night club in the French
Quarter called Voodoo Mood. He is seduced into the dark realm of
voodoo by a beautiful nineteen year old Creole, named Honey Suckle
Ducree. She has wolf blue eyes that mesmerized Messenger and drew
him deep into the inferno. Anne Rice s old home on Napoleon Avenue
is the scene for some of the danger fi lled adventures and it
serves as the site of the murder of Buster Stubble, a whore monger
who also owns the Voodoo Token Shop. It appears that an enormously
powerful animal is committing serial killings in the areas
surrounding Jackson Square and the St. Louis Cathedral. Can Dr.
Messenger avoid being a victim of voodoo, like his Cathedral
friend, Father McGinnis? What is the truth concerning the
undercover FBI agent, who works as a Lucky Dog vendor on Bourbon
Street? Is there a shapeshifter lurking about, who is disguised as
a half-hyena, half-human entity? What is the end result of
Messenger s undying love for Honey Suckle and Tulane Voodoo? The
ending is guaranteed to blow you away. Get ready with the gris-gris
The Nth Degree follows the escapades of a medical doctor, who is
also a scientist and a surgeon, along his zigzagging path for
intellectual enlightenment, from the road of traditional medicine
to the realm of the paranormal....and beyond. His quest for
knowledge leads him into the shadowy and dangerous sphere of the
unknown potential of the human brain and spirit. The central
character, Dr. Kenneth Messenger, takes the reader on a perilous
journey inside today's top medical institutions and into the
paranormal realm of auras, astral travel and psychic healing. It is
Dr. Howes' first book in a series called "The Sci-Fi Adventures of
Dr. Kenneth Messinger: The Parallel Universe Series." The Nth
Degree is unique in that it blends medicine, biochemistry, and
psychic phenomena, with a twist and it provides a unique and
positively shocking ending. Readers will be left with their mouths
agape and their minds ready for more adventures with Dr. Kenneth
Messenger. The Nth Degree is a fresh and awesome contribution to
the world of science fiction.
The Sci-Fi Adventures of Dr. Kenneth Messenger: The Parallel
Universe Series Catching Cancer is an adventure of epic
proportions, in which the entire human race is susceptible to an
unexplained and unanticipated raging cancer pandemic. Catching
Cancer follows the adventure filled activities of a medical doctor,
who is also a scientist and a surgeon, facing a new world threat of
contagion. Dr. Messenger has to use all of his diagnostic prowess
to determine its cause and he has to push his scientific intellect
to formulate a cure....if a cure is possible. His quest for a
cancer cure leads him into the uncertain arena of experimental
medicine....a precarious world of unknowns, with unknown outcomes.
There is a complicated web of contagion, which involves bacteria,
viruses and genetic transmission of cancer. Vectors of cancer
transmission could be anything from an infected animal with a
mutated genome to a contaminated shooting star. World health
surveillance officers have identified multiple global epicenters of
the cancer contagion and officials aggressively aid in the fight
against the pandemic. Ken has no choice but to risk an exceptional
experimental cure by increasing the cancer victims' oxidative
capacity, attempting to kill the cancer and any mutated viruses,
while protecting the patient's delicate normal cells. His work
brings both personal tragedy and worldwide acclaim inside the walls
of his clinic. But, the death of his youngest daughter brings a
wave of despair crashing down upon him, leaving a broken doctor in
its wake. Even so, his challenges are not over. The story line
revolves around two local men and one of Ken's old lovers, all of
whom have caught cancer. Dr. Messenger works desperately to save
them and to save the world. This novel also handles adult dialogue
and adult situations. The author, Dr. Howes, delivers a profound,
heartfelt and shocking ending.... the likes of which, I promise,
you have not experienced before.
Recommended use of antioxidant vitamins to treat varied medical
maladies is based on the invalidated free radical theory. The
continued non-acceptance of the null findings of over 500 clinical
trials on vitamin and antioxidant supplements has no scientific
basis or biochemical plausibility. The underlying principles of the
free radical theory have been proven to have repeated
unreliability. It fails to meet the requirements of the scientific
method and lacks reproducibility. Yet, the multi-billion dollar
antioxidant supplement industry continues to thrive and trumpet
false claims for their potentially harmful products. No doubt,
excessive intake of antioxidant vitamins results in increased risk
of heart disease, cancer, strokes and overall mortality. A working
knowledge of redox chemistry is essential to understanding the
hundreds of failed trials testing the efficacy of antioxidant
supplements and antioxidant vitamins. Normal redox homeostasis may
be pathologically disturbed by overzealous use of antioxidants. My
UTOPIA and ROS insufficiency theories present a new perspective
more correctly informed by the most contemporaneous experimental
findings and by the most reliable clinical trials and studies. In
short, electronically modified oxygen derivatives (EMODs) are
essential for human existence and protection. An EMOD insufficiency
"allows" for the development of a multitude of disease entities,
including infections, non-healing wounds, infertility, tumor
development, arteriosclerotic blockages, and cancer growth and
metastasis. There never has been a "war" between EMODs and
antioxidants.
The Sci-Fi Adventures of Dr. Kenneth Messenger: The Parallel
Universe Series Pangaea 6 follows the trying travails of a medical
doctor, who is also a scientist and a surgeon. His quest for
survival leads him into the precarious sphere of a threatening new
world....a world of unknowns....the world of Pangaea 6. Pangaea 6
takes Dr. Messenger on a trek of deep inquiry and dangerous
discovery. Dr. Messenger faces his worst nightmare, i.e., the loss
of his intellect. He is ordered by the Confederation to ascertain
the surviving species of marine and land animals following the
continental re-coalescence, which formed Pangaea 6. He tries to
make sense of a bold new world and the continued conflicts amongst
men. He is forced to study the Gaia theory, while attempting to
apply it to his new surroundings, including the issue of planet
Earth acting as a soulless, singular organism. Messenger is
fascinated with the importance of electromagnetic fields and their
roles in establishing meaning for the living planet and their
relationship to the loving human mind. He has to face the harsh
realities of electroshock, dementia, Alzheimer's disease and
electromagnetic destruction of memory and meaning. His studies
expose him to crop circles, chaos and Greek mythology. As always,
Dr. Howes, provides a totally unanticipated ending which is,
indeed, shocking and revealing Hold onto your seat.
A recent study showed over 60% of athletes use common antioxidant
vitamin supplements, of which 97.5% used vitamin C, 78.3% used
vitamin E and 52.2% used multivitamins. This is even higher than
the average population and is done because athletes, coaches,
trainers, sports doctors and dieticians have been misled to believe
that excessive antioxidants will give the athlete an edge over
their competitors or make them perform better than those not taking
antioxidant supplements. But, this outdated notion needs careful
scientific evaluation. Dr. Howes' extensive previous work has
reported on over 400 studies, including almost 16 million human
participants, which showed the ineffectiveness of the antioxidants.
And over 110 of these studies showed the harmful potential of the
injudicious use of excessive antioxidants. Studies are now
surfacing which show that antioxidants can have negative effects on
performance and on recovery following bouts of exercise. Also, they
are showing significant serious harmful effects on overall health.
Once you know the scientific facts, then you can make up your mind
as to the wisdom of taking injudicious amounts of antioxidants. The
outdated notion of casually taking unnecessary and potentially
dangerous antioxidant supplements needs to be scientifically
analyzed and challenged. Dr. Howes does specifically that. In the
past, the harmful effects of the antioxidants have been
under-reported, denied, ignored or swept under the rug of
ignorance. We must objectively look at the scientific data and make
logical and safe decisions accordingly. So, read the facts and then
decide on crucial performance and safety issues. Do not be misled
by strong marketing forces. Be safe and healthy, not sorry.
Dr. Messenger is part of a top-notch scientific team attempting to
create the world's largest manmade element, which required
harnessing the power of lightning from Hurricane Grace. Ultiminium
turned out to have a huge number of unpaired outer orbital
electrons, which qualified it as the largest ever free radical.
Ultiminium is surrounded with unpredictable chemical properties and
strange reactivities. Could it be the answer to a whole new way to
treat infections or cancer or could it be the long sought after
fountain of youth? When man plays God, as the Creator, does he face
discovery or disaster? Ultiminium is not a naturally occurring
element so, what does it hold for the fate of mankind....peril or
pleasure? Has man designed the ultimate breakthrough or has man
gone too far? Dr. Messenger takes us on a dangerous and exciting
excursion through the edgy experimental laboratories of scientific
exploration. As usual, the author, Dr. Howes, combines fundamental
scientific principles with a pinch of sex and a dash of humor. Hang
on for the ride and a wham-bam ending
Dr. Howes presents over 500 scientific reports showing the
ineffectiveness of common antioxidants and of these, over 170
studies show harmful effects. This should not be surprising, since
our very survival depends on imperative oxidative biochemical
pathways. Dr. Howes discusses seven crucial oxidative pathways,
including pathogen protection, cancer protection, wound healing,
energy production, detoxification, immunity and cellular signaling,
which can be blocked or interfered with by "antioxidant stacking or
overkill." Thus, it is a no-brainer that antioxidant overload can
cause inadvertent harmful maladies and also cause increased risk of
death (overall mortality). Antioxidants can act as "dirty bombs"
and non-specifically interfere with essential oxidative processes.
Preservatives increase antioxidant exposure and this is rapidly
contaminating our environment, due to the desire to prevent
spoilage (rancidity, discoloration, foul odors, etc.) of common
foods and preserve feed supplies of animals, such as cattle, pigs
and fish. Antioxidant food fortification is commonplace and genetic
modification to augment antioxidant content of foods is on the
rise. This book is the world's largest selective collection of
antioxidant reports and the cited studies include over 16 million
human participants. Thirty two major medical/scientific
organizations do not recommend the use of antioxidant supplements
but suggest getting them for fresh fruits and vegetables. Dr. Howes
has discovered that antioxidants can shield or protect 27 different
cancer cell types in the laboratory and 9 murine (rodent) cancer
cell types from being killed. Yet, millions of cancer survivors are
encouraged to take potentially dangerous doses of antioxidant
supplements on a daily basis. Please educate yourself to the
inherent dangers of antioxidant overkill. Be smart. Be safe. Dr.
Howes presents the downside of antioxidant overloading and exposes
the mythology behind aggressive advertising campaigns pushing
antioxidant overuse. Dr. Howes convincingly presents overwhelming
data which clearly invalidates and nullifies the free radical
theory and points out its failure to meet the requirements of the
scientific method. The erroneous free radical theory lacks
predictability and reproducibility. All antioxidant studies have
been based on the flawed free radical theory. Hence, hundreds of
studies have failed to show effectiveness or safety of antioxidant
use in humans. It is time to move past the debunked free radical
theory and to appreciate the many benefits of electronically
modified oxygen derivatives (EMODs, previously called reactive
oxygen species, ROS). EMODs are essential to normal homeostasis and
human survival. Without them we would rapidly succumb, just as we
would summarily die without a constant supply of ground state
di-radical oxygen. We are, indeed, obligate aerobes. Please do not
overlook this most essential fact.
Antioxidants have been touted as being so-called "anti-aging"
agents and many aggressive sales campaigns have been based on this
false premise. However, clear scientific evidence that antioxidants
can inhibit or delay aging is lacking. Nutritional and genetic
interventions to boost antioxidants have failed to increase the
life span of man. Correlations between antioxidant levels and rate
of aging are inconsistent and non-supportive. Questions remain as
to any role for antioxidants in delaying the aging process.
Actually, the theory upon which the antioxidants were studied was
the free radical theory of aging and/or the mitochondrial theory of
aging, both of which have been invalidated due to a lack of
reproducibility in scientific studies. Even worse, there is growing
evidence that excessive antioxidant overloading can cause
significant harm. Rest assured, the quest for healthy aging has
been fraught with outlandish scams and money-making schemes. In
fact, antioxidants have been shown to increase the risk of
age-associated diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, strokes and
overall mortality. Moreover, the free radical theory fails to
explain the well recognized, healthful benefits of exercise. Still,
sales of anti-aging agents continue to sky rocket. People want a
quick fix to aging or a "youth miracle pill" but such conjured-up
remedies do not exist. In short, there is no antioxidant "fountain
of youth." Moreover, antioxidant overkill likely interferes with
crucial prooxidant protection against pathogens (infections) and
cancer development. Additionally, antioxidant stacking can lead to
chronic fatigue and tiredness. Avoid being duped by clever
advertisers. Keep your money. Protect your health. Be safe and age
gracefully and happily.
Dr. Howes recommends that patients should be counseled against
using antioxidant supplements to prevent or treat cancer. Dr. Howes
presents 118 human studies showing antioxidant ineffectiveness in
cancer treatment and of this, 39 studies show harmful effects. Dr.
Howes presents 27 specific human cancer cell types which are
shielded by antioxidants in lab studies and 9 similar murine
(rodent) studies. There are over 11 million human participants in
these studies, covering over 3 decades. Over 26 studies show that
the antioxidants increase the risk of cancer development and 2
studies show that the overall mortality of cancer patients taking
antioxidants is increased.
Heart Disease and Antioxidant Failures is a compilation of over 100
antioxidant studies which have failed to prevent, reverse or cure
heart diseases, such as atherosclerosis, plaque formation and
hypertension. Of these studies, 30 study reports showed
antioxidants having harmful heart adverse effects. People are
taking potentially dangerous antioxidants unnecessarily and are
wasting their money. Deceptive antioxidant marketing practices
concerning so-called "heart-healthy antioxidants" have been exposed
by Dr. Howes. Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death
in America and around the globe. Oxygen free radicals have been
implicated as being causative of atherosclerosis (hardening of the
arteries) and of hypertension. The heart nornmally has an enormous
need for oxygen, which is itself a di-radical. Consequently,
investigators have attempted to prevent, reverse or cure heart
diseases by the use of antioxidant supplements. Surprisingly,
rigorous scientific testing has shown that antioxidants have failed
to do so. More shocking is the fact that over 30 study reports have
shown that they can cause adverse or harmful cardiovascular
effects. Again, it appears that clever marketing has achieved its
goal of increasing profits for ineffective and potentially
dangerous antioxidant supplements. Help stop the fraud. Be informed
with the scientific truth. Listen to an expert. Heed Dr. Howes'
words of wisdom. Do not endanger your heart health needlessly as a
response to false advertising. Be safe Be smart
The most important and the largest sex organ is located between the
ears....and is commonly referred to as "the brain." Libido is a
function of testosterone and erection is a function of free
radicals. The very spark of life is fed by oxygen If you put out
your free radical, oxidative fire, you extinguish your life If you
douse your inner life-force spark, you smother your elan vital
(life force). You can not live without your inner oxidative flame.
Antioxidants pose a threat to the oxidative fire within. Oxygen and
its electronically modified oxygen derivative (EMOD) progeny are
the sine qua non (the essential condition) of man's very existence.
This is an inarguable fact. Contrary to the common mantra of many
authors, oxygen free radicals perform many crucial beneficial roles
in sexual function and reproduction. Also contrary to popular
claims, antioxidants are not the cure-all for sexual and
reproductive problems. I have often said, "Man is the craziest
critter on the planet." To back this up, I had suggested that all
one had to do was to turn on the evening news or grab a newspaper.
However, if you really want to see how crazy man is, just come with
me through the history of aphrodisiacs and sexual prowess. So,
let's undergo a reality check and scope out the history of these
agents that claim to put more "zang in your wang," "zing in your
thing" or greater "zippedy in your doo-da "
The Sci-Fi Adventures of Dr. Kenneth Messenger: The Parallel
Universe Series. This is the eighth novel in the series. The
Saints' Curse and Ghosts on the Levee wrestles with the unknowns
surrounding past lives, age regression and reincarnation. Dr.
Messenger is curiously and compulsively driven to live in the old
haunted Du Chat Plantation mansion on the levee of the Mighty
Mississippi River. While exploring under the house, he is bitten by
a wind scorpion, which causes a near-death anaphylactic reaction.
Dr. Messenger is challenged beyond his wildest dreams and unwisely
befriends Reverend Adolph Bigerdik, a priest in the Church of
Satan. Ken learns of the old curse on his beloved Saints football
team. The construction of the New Orleans Superdome had desecrated
the Girod Street Cemetery grounds and released evil spiritual
forces. Unbelievably, some bodies remain under the dome today. Can
voodoo remove the Saints' curse forever? Can Ken fight the cruel
and evil doings of slave owner, Franscoise Du Chat? Will an
experimental age regression pill lead to disaster? Did Ken really
have a dalliance inside a burial vault with a student of the
paranormal? Are our lives controlled by our karma? Ghosts roam the
levee and the Superdome and will haunt your dreams. Hang on for a
hellacious and thrilling ride.
LSU Spirit, in the Mounds is the ninth novel in the series. The
Sci-Fi Adventures of Dr. Kenneth Messenger: The Parallel Universe
Series LSU Spirit, in the Mounds is a humorous romp with Dr.
Messenger, from the LSU campus to the Angola State Penitentiary and
over to the Stennis Space Center. Messenger is fascinated by the
eerie events centered around Native American Indian mounds. Early
European explorers never observed the Indians actually constructing
the 6,000 year old mounds and there was a plethora of rumors about
them, which focused on alien visitors and ghostly apparitions.
Messenger's girl friend, Coma, learned of the deep meaning of the
twin eagle feathers and she struggled to fathom Ken's Indian mound
obsession. In Ken's adventure, he befriends an old LSU Anthropology
Professor, who has an uncanny relationship with an ancient Choctaw
tribal elder. Messenger is puzzled by the meaning of
predestination, orbs, life eternal and....love. Will a neutron
blaster be capable of destroying the 'eggs of doom' that are about
to hatch inside the mounds? Can he avert the Apocalypse of the
Mounds? What does immortality have to do with any of it? LSU
Spirit, in the Mounds is a non-stop turn of events, interspersed
with strange characters and their antics. Again, be prepared for a
shocker of an ending
The author, Dr. Howes, has interwoven accepted genetic engineering,
gene therapy, viral carriers and plant life to demonstrate the fact
that lines of demarcation between medical fact and science fiction
can become a blend, making it difficult, if not impossible, to
distinguish between the two. The reader is taken on a journey
through today's top research institutions and into the realm of
gene therapy, auras and trying to determine the limits of genetic
engineering. It raises questions concerning the advisability of
combining the human and viral genome. It also deals with the age
old battle between ethics and morality. Slightly Green is triple
threat, as it is intellectually challenging, sexy and funny. A
particularly telling quote is as follows: "Whoa, Flora Gene. You
mean he can actually change the destiny of the cells....change
their character. Now, I see why we must be so hush-hush about this
work. If it got into the wrong hands, it could be disastrous,
right?" The "Flora" was indicative of the plant kingdom and "Gene"
referred to the genome. I had known for decades where my work was
going to lead. I knew it would lead to a viral-plant-human hybrid
of some sort. But, I didn't know when it would happen or how it
would happen."
In Antioxidant Failures and Dangers, Dr. Howes presents 316 study
reports showing the ineffectiveness of common antioxidants,
including vitamins A, C & E, resveratrol, lycopene (tomatoes),
flavonoids (chocolate), omega-3 fish oil, ferulic acid, quercetin,
pine tree extract, pomegranate juice, etc. Shockingly, 90 of these
study reports reveal harmful (adverse) effects associated with the
use of these antioxidants, ranging from increased risk of cancer to
increased risk of heart disease and stroke. There are also over a
dozen reports showing an increased overall mortality risk. Dr.
Howes emphasizes the significance of inadvertently overloading with
antioxidants and producing a dangerous prooxidant insufficiency
state. Prooxidants are essential for protection against pathogens
(infections) and cancer development. He further points out the
increasing sales of antioxidant supplements due to misleading and
powerful advertising campaigns. Even medical personnel and cancer
survivors have been misinformed and they erroneously believe that
the injudicious use of antioxidants is good for their overall
health. The available scientific evidence shows that antioxidant
overkill is a serious threat to one's well being and sets the stage
for the development of a wide range of common diseases and the
shortening of their life spans. These study reports included over
15 million human participants or subjects from countries throughout
the world. These studies represent a solid basis for the consequent
downfall of the free radical theory (FRT). The FRT lacks
predictability and reproducibility and is invalidated and nullified
because, after 50 years of testing, it does not meet the
requirements of the scientific method. The free radical theory has
fallen
Antioxidants from supplements, food sources and the environment
have a cumulative effect of dangerously lowering protective
prooxidant levels, which "allows" for disease manifestation and
coexistence of diseases. Today's marketing of antioxidants is all
about sales and has nothing to do with science-based evidence.
Scientific data has shown for years that the antioxidant vitamins
can increase the risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke and overall
mortality. Yet, this information is ignored or denied by those
"pushing" these potentially harmful products. None of the synthetic
antioxidants work in the same manner as those contained in the
biochemical matrix of fruits and vegetables of a nutritious diet.
Today's antioxidants should be treated as medicines, not just
because of their claims, but because of their proven adverse
effects on the human body. I present over 250 scientific studies
showing the negligible or non-existent effects of the antioxidants
and of these, 80 studies highlight their wide ranging harmful
effects. This is the largest collection of its kind in the world's
medical literature. The hype of the antioxidants was based on the
invalidated and outdated free radical theory, which lacks
predictability and fails to meet the requirements of the scientific
method. As was pointed out in an article entitled, Antioxidants not
heaven sent, by Stefan Andrei Anghel in the Harvard Science Review,
Spring 2010, "It may come as a surprise that the current scientific
consensus is that there is no health benefit to taking antioxidant
supplements. Even more unexpected news came this year when an
article announced that antioxidants may actually prevent the
health-promoting effects of physical exercise.... If the model
proposed by the authors of the study is correct, then it may turn
out that we have been systematically "poisoning" ourselves,
increasing our disease risk and shortening our lifespan through
antioxidant supplements." It was especially gratifying that Anghel
cited one of my papers entitled, The Free Radical Fantasy, as the
first reference in The Harvard Review and cited it two other times
in the article. On January 2 5, 2011, Sharon Begley noted in
Newsweek magazine in an article entitled, Antioxidants fall from
grace, that, "Now the research is challenging an even more
fundamental tenet of the antioxidant craze. Many of the free
radicals that are neutralized by antioxidants perform valuable
functions in the body. The most important: fighting toxins (white
blood cells churn out free radicals by the battalion to fight
bacterial infection) and fighting cancer. Maybe it's not such a
fabulous idea to flood the body with something that neutralizes
these warriors of the immune system." Antioxidant overuse can be
dangerous with health problems, like cancer or infections. In 2009,
108 new food products with antioxidants touted on the label reached
store shelves, aisles of them in the United States. Shockingly,
medical personnel and cancer survivors take more antioxidants than
those taken by the average person. The theory behind the use of
antioxidants is plausible only if the free radical theory is sound.
But, it has been nullified by hundreds of studies. The theory has
been wrong and that is the reason that the antioxidant supplements
available to us lack effectiveness and produce adverse effects. The
free radical theory is passe With this explanation, the American
Heart Association's advisory statement is sound. There is no good
reason, at this point, to spend your money on antioxidant
supplements. I have endeavored to find more advanced and improved
replacement theories. People are waking up to the fact that they
have been victims of clever marketing campaigns, all of which were
based on the profit motive. Stop being a victim while the
antioxidant craze is dying down. More and more, people are becoming
aware of their ineffectiveness and of their harm. The choice is
yours. Choose wi
