In this issue of "monograph.it" we present five architecture, urbanism and landscape studios , Italians and foreigners working on contemporary design sensitive to context and landscape. Diller Scofidio + Renfro with James Corner, present the project and current status of the High Line in New York, with a photographic story of Alex MacLean.
"Workshop of the Italian contemporary design" is the title of Monograph.it, number three, dedicated to Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, an international architectural office based in Milan. A "workshop" for the craft of design, attentive to every step of the project whatever the scale, from industrial design to architecture, in a contemporary rendering of the tradition of the great Masters of Milan. In addition to many recent, previously unpublished projects and architectural designs, this issue is enriched by photographs of "Milano Vertical" by Olivo Barbieri.
Monograph.arch is a new series which collects architects and architectures on contemporary languages, from Italy and other lands.
"Monograph.it" is at the same time monography and review, it follows an original criterium of pictures' itinerary. In fact "monograph.it" devotes to architecture's study of several pages with complete contents. Moreover there will be a gallery of pictures of places, buildings, landscapes together with a monographic section for one or more cities in evolution; therefore conceiving present urban places and landscapes as necessary and permanent elements of the project. The choice of such contents is aimed at surveying the different developments of the project production in the range of the different scales. The genovese architetcure office 5+1AA is the protagonist of the first issue of the "monograph.it" with the exhaustive atlas of drawings and architectural stills, and furthermore the European 16 creative city', and finally the photo gallery dedicated to the stills of the Nunzio Battaglia italian photographer.
Both monograph and magazine. An original formula by publishing of new contents around architecture, urban cultures, landscape and photography.
DOLOMITI is the first of a collection of annual books on the Dolomites, with a different look and more attentive than of the traditional iconography of these places, recently UNESCO heritage. A look, result of crossing work of the photography, architecture and urbanism wich explain, together, research on the alpine landscape in the Atelier Around Dolomites, established at the University of Trento in cooperation with other European Schools of Architecture. This first volume consists of the original images of the photographer Gregor Sailer and a series of texts that describe the various steps from the UNESCO nomination, to the nature of the Dolomites, until the first studies undertaken on this fascinating natural complex. "Geoscape" is a summary that best represents the dolomitic area, the result of a unique cross between geography and geology to defining the landscape, but also alluding to a new way of addressing the knowledge and the design for the contexts of particular sensitivity.
