The book reviews the state-of-the art methods developed and used to
remove heavy metals. It presents both industrial waste and mineral
based adsorbent as well as bio waste materials making the book
absolutely a source of low cost methods available till date.

Focuses on the menace of metal pollution on plants, crop plants,
pulses and vegetables Covers morphological, anatomical,
physiological and biochemical aspects Covers metal
hyper-accumulators (metallophytes) and bioremediation Alleviation
of metal stress by exogenous phytohormonal supply Includes heavy
metals' low dose stimulatory effects Focuses on 'omics' studies
i.e. genomics, metabolomics, ionomics, proteomics and
transcriptomics
The book brings out an encyclopaedic picture of the potential areas
of transformative Indian agriculture through innovations in
science, technology, institutional and policy affairs directed in
building a self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat). The book has
addressed the challenges to make India free from hunger, poverty
and undernutrition, and suggested interventions with focus on
all-inclusiveness and sustainability, peace and prosperity, and
resilience to climate and other volatilities. Most of these
propositions are analogous to the Sustainable Development Goals -
Agenda 2030, which India has committed to achieve. The book
especially covers critical needs for development on different
fragile ecosystems such as coastal, desert, hill, ravine and other
marginal ecosystems. The book will act as very useful guidance for
the policy makers, and development communities, and a reference
document to academicians as well. Note: T&F does not sell or
distribute the hardback in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan,
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. This title is co-published with NIPA.
With the rapid advancement in technology, myriad new threats have
emerged in online environments. The broad spectrum of these digital
risks requires new and innovative methods for protection against
cybercrimes. The Handbook of Research on Network Forensics and
Analysis Techniques is a current research publication that examines
the advancements and growth of forensic research from a relatively
obscure tradecraft to an important part of many investigations.
Featuring coverage on a broad range of topics including
cryptocurrency, hand-based biometrics, and cyberterrorism, this
publication is geared toward professionals, computer forensics
practitioners, engineers, researchers, and academics seeking
relevant research on the development of forensic tools.
This SpringerBriefs is an overview of the emerging field of
wireless access and mobile network virtualization. It provides a
clear and relevant picture of the current virtualization trends in
wireless technologies by summarizing and comparing different
architectures, techniques and technologies applicable to a future
virtualized wireless network infrastructure. The readers are
exposed to a short walkthrough of the future Internet initiative
and network virtualization technologies in order to understand the
potential role of wireless virtualization in the broader context of
next-generation ubiquitous networks. Three main wireless
virtualization perspectives are explored, along with the potential
challenges and requirements of a sustainable wireless
virtualization framework. Finally, it presents an example of a
multi-perspective wireless virtualization framework. The readers
learn the latest concepts in the application of wireless
virtualization as well as its relationship with cutting-edge
wireless technologies such as software-defined radio (SDR) and
cognitive radio.
Phytoremediation with wetland plants is an eco-friendly,
aesthetically pleasing, cost-effective, solar-driven, passive
technique that is useful for cleaning up environmental pollutants
with low to moderate levels of contamination.
This book is a compilation of work by experts from the different
domains of the healthcare industry, ranging from hospital planning
to quality management, clinical services to disaster
management.Healthcare organizations, being diverse, sensitive, and
intricate, warrant thorough and flawless planning. The structure
should be not only operationally efficient but also safe for its
occupants and visitors. It starts with a brief introduction of the
healthcare sector at different levels. It also attempts to justify
how the changing healthcare landscape paved the way for
establishing a contemporary and ever-evolving specialty of Hospital
planning and designing, which is dynamic and frequently requires
continuous improvements and updates. Clinical and non-clinical
departments have been separately classified in this book, and their
respective standards and guidelines have been incorporated while
describing the planning concepts. Critical areas of a hospital such
as ICU, CCU have been detailed precisely as the operational
requirements and level of different sophistication required. A
chapter on security aspects and disaster management has also been
thoroughly envisioned based on the current scenario at the global
level. Issues and management of Hospital Acquired Infection are
explained in different chapters based on its relevance and
application in that particular area.
Industrialisation and urbanisation have led to the rapid
deterioration in the water quality of rivers, lakes and reservoirs.
Heavy metal pollution in aquatic ecosystems has become the most
important point for discussion in recent years. The problem of
heavy metal pollution is emerging as a matter of concern at local,
regional and also at global scales. Heavy metal pollution in
aquatic ecosystems pose serious threats to aquatic biodiversity,
and drinking of contaminated water pose severe health hazards in
humans. Therefore, the focus of attention has been shifted from
mere monitoring of environmental conditions to the development of
alternative means to solve the environmental problems at local and
global levels. This new book discusses how economic aspects and
side effects of conventional treatment technologies in aquatic
ecosystems paved way to phytoremediation technology.
Intense farming and irrigation practices are important causes of
salinity which limit plant growth and productivity. Salinity has
now impacted 6% of the total and 33% of the irrigated land. The
severest salinity problem has arisen in semiarid or arid lands when
they were subjected to excessive irrigation which turned hundreds
of hectares of cultivated fertile lands into saline lands. When a
change in salinity around the environment of a plant exceeds to a
certain threshold level, the morphology and physiology of the
plants are affected. This book emphasizes the menace of salinity in
agriculture and crop production. It encompasses various studies on
plants sensitive to salt (glycophytes) and tolerant to salt
(halophytes). This book includes diversity of glycophytes and
halophytes, effects of salinity on different stages of growth and
development, ion homeostasis and cellular ion transport, their
photosynthetic responses, effects on biological nitrogen fixation,
redox regulation and phytohormonal adjustment, and significance of
mineral nutrients in combating salinity in food crops. The most
significant feature of the present book is its extensive coverage
of genomics, metabolomics, ionomics, proteomics and transcriptomics
approach, which provides a better understanding towards salt and
its interaction with plants. This book is beneficial for students
of stress physiology, environmental sciences, agronomy, life
sciences and crop sciences at the university level.
Each year hailstorm damage to human life, property, livestock, and
agriculture is appalling in nature. Broadly, there are two problems
related with hailstorms i.e. cloud physics problem of the growth of
hailstones and the synoptic problem which relates to the
thermodynamic investigation of the conditions that produce
hailstorms. Thus, present book discusses climatology, physical
properties of hail, measurements, prediction, control and damage
assessment. Separate chapter discusses the typical features of
hailstorm formation. Forecasters in any part of the world could
find fair order of similarity in the synoptic models discussed
amongst the four regions of India, with their regions, too.
