Cameroon-Nigeria Relations: Trends and Perspectives, edited by
Osita Agbu and C. Nna-Emeka Okereke, examines various aspects of
Cameroon-Nigeria relations since their attainment of independence
in 1960. The Cameroon and Nigerian contributors contextualize core
topical issues that have featured prominently in the course of
bilateral relations between both countries, ranging from
theoretical underpinnings to understanding the dynamics of
Cameroon-Nigeria relations, to contending issues and areas of
mutual interests driving diplomatic relations between them. The
book reveals trends and dynamics while also accommodating divergent
perspectives that demonstrate how theories can be applied to
achieve real results. Of significant import is the prognosis that
stimulates concerns for the future of Cameroon-Nigeria relations
bearing in mind the strategic position of both countries in West
and Central Africa. This book is an indispensable resource for
scholars, diplomats, and foreign policy actors that will enrich
understanding and inform opinions on charting future courses for
healthy bilateral relations between Cameroon and Nigeria.
Negotiating Identities in Contemporary Africa: Gender, Religion,
and Ethno-cultural Identities explores the changing dynamics of
identities in Africa, with a focus on gender, ethno-cultural, and
religious identity. Toyin Falola and Emmanuel M. Mbah argue that
because identity defines who we are as individuals or groups,
studies on African identities must focus on understanding the
changing dynamics in the socio-economic and political spheres in
the continent. These chapters cover subjects such as women’s
career identity, gender roles and knowledge, childlessness,
ethnocentrism and democracy, cultural identity through theater,
Black identity in the diaspora, and diasporic consciousness. Using
existing scholarship, the chapters in this edited volume challenge
our understanding of what identity entails and provide new
discussions on the hitherto politicized historiography of some
identities in Africa.
This study examines the mapping of thematic roles, such as agent
and patient, onto syntactic cases, such as nominative or ergative,
or onto structural relations in a cross-linguistic survey that is
supplemented with German data. It is shown that cases and
structural relations code different aspects of thematic structure
and that cases cannot be derived from structural relations in
universal grammar. The phenomena that characterize ergative and
active languages are shown to be restricted to case mapping.
Updated to reflect the latest developments and increasing scope of
school-based options, the second edition of the Handbook of
Research on School Choice makes readily available the most rigorous
and policy-relevant research on K-12 school choice. This
comprehensive research handbook begins with scholarly overviews
that explore historical, political, economic, legal,
methodological, and international perspectives on school choice. In
the following sections, experts examine the research and current
state of common forms of school choice: charter schools, school
vouchers, and magnet schools. The concluding section brings
together perspectives on other key topics such as accountability,
tax credit scholarships, parent decision-making, and marginalized
students. With empirical perspectives on all aspects of this
evolving sphere of education, this is a critical resource for
researchers, faculty, and students interested in education policy,
the politics of education, and educational leadership.

are identified as glycoconjugates; they include the 4 ABO(H) , MNT,

valuable since they can be understood in terms of their serology,
chemical structure and biochemical genetics4-7). Their specific

be susceptible to alterations in the presence of certain

in the areas of structural analysis, biochemical genetics, and
immunologic and tumor marker relationships. The purpose of this
review is to provide an update of progress realized in these areas.
Other reviews with emphasis 12 l5 on special areas are also

Richard A. Primus examines three crucial periods in American history (the late eighteenth century, the Civil War and the 1950s and 1960s) and demonstrates how the conceptions of rights prevailing at each of these times grew out of opposition to concrete political cases. In the first study of its kind, Primus highlights the influence of totalitarianism (in Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union) on the language of rights. This book will be a major contribution to contemporary political theory, of interest to scholars and students in politics and government, constitutional law, and American history.
The volume assembles the papers delivered at an interdisciplinary
symposium held at the University of Klagenfurt in December 2000.
The studies focus on a variety of different topics, all of which
shed light on different versions of Jewish identity (or identities)
in the 19th and 20th centuries. They also mirror the polyphonic
nature of the discourses on Jewish life and thought. Another aspect
highlighted by the collection is the interaction between Jewish
intellectuals as cultural mediators and the evolution and reception
of modernism in central Europe. The main focus is on the early 20th
century, with some attention also given to the post-Shoah epoch.
Geographically, the studies concentrate on major centres and
regions of central Europe, notably Vienna, Bohemia/Moravia,
Hungary, Bukovina, Galicia, the southern Slavonic countries, and
Trieste.

Midler and Lily Tomlin play two twins each in this zany comedy.
