This book constitutes revised selected papers from the Third International Workshop on Clinical Image-Based Procedures, CLIP 2014, held in conjunction with MICCAI 2014 in Boston, MA, USA, in September 2014. The 19 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 26 submissions. New strategies are essential to ensure a smooth and effective translation of computational image-based techniques into the clinic. For these reasons CLIP 2014's major focus is on translational research filling the gaps between basic science and clinical applications. A highlight of the workshop is the subject of strategies for personalized medicine to enhance diagnosis, treatment and interventions. Authors are encouraged to submit work centered on specific clinical applications, including techniques and procedures based on comprehensive clinical image data. Submissions related to applications already in use and evaluated by clinical users are particularly encouraged. The event will bring together world-class specialists to present ways to strengthen links between computer scientists and engineers, and clinicians.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th International Workshop on Clinical Image-Based Procedures, CLIP 2021, Second MICCAI Workshop on Distributed and Collaborative Learning, DCL 2021, First MICCAI Workshop, LL-COVID19, First Secure and Privacy-Preserving Machine Learning for Medical Imaging Workshop and Tutorial, PPML 2021, held in conjunction with MICCAI 2021, in October 2021. The workshops were planned to take place in Strasbourg, France, but were held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.CLIP 2021 accepted 9 papers from the 13 submissions received. It focuses on holistic patient models for personalized healthcare with the goal to bring basic research methods closer to the clinical practice. For DCL 2021, 4 papers from 7 submissions were accepted for publication. They deal with machine learning applied to problems where data cannot be stored in centralized databases and information privacy is a priority. LL-COVID19 2021 accepted 2 papers out of 3 submissions dealing with the use of AI models in clinical practice. And for PPML 2021, 2 papers were accepted from a total of 6 submissions, exploring the use of privacy techniques in the medical imaging community.

This book constitutes the refereed joint proceedings of the 10th International Workshop on Multimodal Learning for Clinical Decision Support, ML-CDS 2020, and the 9th International Workshop on Clinical Image-Based Procedures, CLIP 2020, held in conjunction with the 23rd International Conference on Medical Imaging and Computer-Assisted Intervention, MICCAI 2020, in Lima, Peru, in October 2020. The workshops were held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 4 full papers presented at ML-CDS 2020 and the 9 full papers presented at CLIP 2020 were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions to ML-CDS and 10 submissions to CLIP. The ML-CDS papers discuss machine learning on multimodal data sets for clinical decision support and treatment planning. The CLIP workshops provides a forum for work centered on specific clinical applications, including techniques and procedures based on comprehensive clinical image and other data.

This book constitutes the revised selected papers from the 5th International Workshop on Clinical Image-Based Procedures, CLIP 2016, held in conjunction with MICCAI 2016 in Athens, Greece, in October 2016. The 10 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 16 submissions. Specific topics include various image segmentation and registration techniques, applied to various parts of the body. They range from interventional planning to navigation of devices and navigation to the anatomy of interest. Clinical applications cover the skull, the cochlea, cranial nerves, the aortic valve, wrists, and the abdomen, among others.

A highlight of this workshop is the subject of strategies for personalized medicine to enhance diagnosis, treatment and interventions.

Taro leaf blight caused by Phytophthora colocasiae is a major constraint to taro cultivation. To manage taro leaf blight and design breeding programme, it is crucial to recognize the genetic diversity of taro and P. colocasiae. We studied genetic structure of taro and P. colocasiae in India. Biochemical alterations in taro plants infected by the P. colocasiae were studied and changes in peroxidase, -1,3-glucanase, L-phenylalanine ammonia-lyase, total phenol and total sugar were evaluated. We employed suppressive subtractive hybridization, high through put DNA sequencing and bioinformatics to identify the defense related genes in taro induced by P. colocasiae infection. Two putative resistance genes and a transcription factor were identified among the upregulated sequences. Our study illustrated that identified genes will be useful to engineer disease protection in taro."

Leaf blight of taro, caused by Phytophthora colocasiae Raciborski, is the most destructive disease of Colocasia esculenta.The disease has severely constrained taro production. Based on disease severity its highly solicited to develop disease prevention method. The use of disease-free planting material is important in halting the spread of P. colocasiae from nurseries to fields and also highly relevant to limiting the spread of it across the globe.In view of that we have developed Nested PCR-Primers for rapid and sensitive detection of Phytophthora colocasiae in infected planting material and infested soil. We have further aimed at investigating the role of BAP(synthetic cytokinin), pathogen derived elicitor protein in the interaction of P. colocasiae and its host plant taro, to explore its potential in controlling taro leaf blight disease.Our investigation shows that transgenic taro plants expressing eiher an elicitor protein or increased cytokinin level could be useful to engineer broad disease protection in taro plant against Phytophthora leaf blight.
