Kyle Idleman; As told to Rebecca English Lawson
R316 Discovery Miles 3 160 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

DISCOVER HOW TO LIVE THE LIFE YOU LONG FOR Maybe you’ve found recently that you are getting more irritable with people. Or you’re feeling more overwhelmed and defeated by the challenges that life is throwing your way. Or you’re spending more time scanning social media than you are connecting with God in prayer. Even doing things your way isn’t working out the way you think it should. If you’re feeling discouraged, frustrated, and worn out, it’s a good indication that something in your life is out of sync. Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem found in Scripture. In John 15:5, Jesus tells his followers, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can’t do anything.” Instead of going it alone in this life, we are to stay connected to him. In this video Bible study, pastor Kyle Idleman reveals how we can actually do that by: Seeking out greater rest, depth, and connection in our lives Recognizing that what we can’t do makes room for what God can do Finding freedom from the pressures of performance and production Stepping out of loneliness and isolation even when it feels scary Getting rid of the distractions that keep us disconnected from Christ In the end, Kyle reveals that the fruit of your life will have nothing to do with your accomplishments and everything to do with your connections. No matter what happens in this world, the greatest joy comes from staying close to the God who stays close to you. This study guide includes: Individual access to five streaming video sessions A guide to best practices for leading a group Video notes and a comprehensive structure for group discussion time Personal study for deeper reflection between sessions Sessions and video run times: Diagnosing Disconnection (15:00) The Wheel of Emotions (15:00) The Way of Connection (17:30) The Purpose of Pruning (17:00) Grafted and Growing (17:30) This study guide has everything you need for a full Bible study experience, including: The study guide itself—with discussion and reflection questions, video notes, and a leader's guide. Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs), are a set of more than 30 health disorders associated with both the temporomandibular joints and the muscles and tissues of the jaw. TMDs have a range of causes and often co-occur with a number of overlapping medical conditions, including headaches, fibromyalgia, back pain and irritable bowel syndrome. TMDs can be transient or long-lasting and may be associated with problems that range from an occasional click of the jaw to severe chronic pain involving the entire orofacial region. Everyday activities, including eating and talking, are often difficult for people with TMDs, and many of them suffer with severe chronic pain due to this condition. Common social activities that most people take for granted, such as smiling, laughing, and kissing, can become unbearable. This dysfunction and pain, and its associated suffering, take a terrible toll on affected individuals, their families, and their friends. Individuals with TMDs often feel stigmatized and invalidated in their experiences by their family, friends, and, often, the health care community. Misjudgments and a failure to understand the nature and depths of TMDs can have severe consequences - more pain and more suffering - for individuals, their families and our society. Temporomandibular Disorders: Priorities for Research and Care calls on a number of stakeholders - across medicine, dentistry, and other fields - to improve the health and well-being of individuals with a TMD. This report addresses the current state of knowledge regarding TMD research, education and training, safety and efficacy of clinical treatments of TMDs, and burden and costs associated with TMDs. The recommendations of Temporomandibular Disorders focus on the actions that many organizations and agencies should take to improve TMD research and care and improve the overall health and well-being of individuals with a TMD. Global Perspectives on Home Education in the 21st Century (Hardcover): Rebecca English Global Perspectives on Home Education in the 21st Century (Hardcover)
Rebecca English
R6,013 Discovery Miles 60 130 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Home education is the fastest growing educational movement in the world, yet the research remains limited on why and how it has become so popular. As more and more families seek to homeschool, it is imperative that further studies are undertaken to understand how students' lives are impacted, as well as the challenges and opportunities that arise from this method of schooling. Global Perspectives on Home Education in the 21st Century is an edited collection that focuses on the major factors behind the global rise of the home education movement and explores many of the current issues faced in relation to homeschooling. The book examines key themes that include parents' and children's experiences of home education, how and why families choose to home educate, and what happens to home educated children once they are finished. Including topics such as unschooling, self-directed learning, willed learning, and holistic education, this book is primarily intended for home educators, school administrators, policymakers, researchers, academicians, and students.

Gender Considerations in Online Consumption Behavior and Internet Use (Hardcover): Rebecca English, Raechel Johns Gender Considerations in Online Consumption Behavior and Internet Use (Hardcover)
Rebecca English, Raechel Johns
R4,713 Discovery Miles 47 130 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The use of social media and blogging websites has become more prevalent especially among young women; this trend suggests that gender has the potential to coincide with one's actions and engagement online. Despite this notable trend, there is still a dearth of research on how women use the internet and how it affects their health, families, and interpersonal relationships. Gender Considerations in Online Consumption Behavior and Internet Use considers the use of online technologies through the lens of gender. From blogs dedicated to motherhood and infertility, to the Movember men's health movement, gender identity is expressed in a communitive way online. This book provides empirical evidence on gender-specific internet usage and the feminine online experience. It is a valuable resource for students, academicians, researchers, technology developers, and government officials.

Mitochondrial Replacement Techniques - Ethical, Social, and Policy Considerations (Paperback): National Academies of Sciences,... Mitochondrial Replacement Techniques - Ethical, Social, and Policy Considerations (Paperback)
National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, Institute of Medicine, Board on Health Sciences Policy, Committee on the Ethical and Social Policy Considerations of Novel Techniques for Prevention of Maternal Transmission of Mitochondrial DNA Diseases; Edited by Jeffrey Kahn, …
R1,523 Discovery Miles 15 230 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Mitochondrial replacement techniques (MRTs) are designed to prevent the transmission of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) diseases from mother to child. While MRTs, if effective, could satisfy a desire of women seeking to have a genetically related child without the risk of passing on mtDNA disease, the technique raises significant ethical and social issues. It would create offspring who have genetic material from two women, something never sanctioned in humans, and would create mitochondrial changes that could be heritable (in female offspring), and therefore passed on in perpetuity. The manipulation would be performed on eggs or embryos, would affect every cell of the resulting individual, and once carried out this genetic manipulation is not reversible. Mitochondrial Replacement Techniques considers the implications of manipulating mitochondrial content both in children born to women as a result of participating in these studies and in descendants of any female offspring. This study examines the ethical and social issues related to MRTs, outlines principles that would provide a framework and foundation for oversight of MRTs, and develops recommendations to inform the Food and Drug Administration's consideration of investigational new drug applications. Table of Contents Front Matter Summary 1 Introduction 2 Science and Policy Context 3 Do Ethical, Social, and Policy Considerations Preclude MRT? 4 Regulation and Oversight of MRT in Humans Appendix A: Study Approach Appendix B: Summary of MRT Research Appendix C: Biosketches of Committee Members

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is tasked with ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medicine. FDA's science base must be strong enough to make certain that regulatory decisions are based on the best scientific evidence. The IOM held a public workshop on February 26, 2010, to examine the state of regulatory science and to consider approaches for enhancing it.
